Just signed up, I sure hope I get picked. Epic Games makes the best multiplayer games hands down in my opinion. Now if only my 5000+ hours clocked into Gears of War 1, 2, and 3 counted for anything here
EDIT: On a side note, anybody hear about that ZMR game? It looks like a GoW clone that is being made by Yingpei Games who worked on GoW2/3 I think, I HOPE I GET PICKED FOR THAT BETA TOO!
I love the idea of being able to choose the general length of your campaign. I'm curious as to how much loot will be in the game and how "unique" the loot will be (will we get 10 million weapons that all look and sound the same like in Borderlands, or will different equipment actually look and feel different?)
Please don't release this game......it will be like Vanilla WoW for me all over again Definitely agree about the company evolving, its nice to see its not just a one trick pony and can do more than just Gears (although the Gears series is still great.)

It's funny that you'd even consider Epic a 'one trick pony' for just Gears, haha (they made 3 of them for starters). Remember Infinity Blade, Unreal Tournament? Unreal? Even Jazz Jackrabbit! All of those games were great!
Unless something has changed, I don't think they want game developers in the beta yet ... for reasons. But maybe they lifted that since I left, I don't know.
Ha, to be honest, I'd just look at the art and take screenshots to extrapolate how they put everything together. That's not helpful for them, since they want people playing the game. So that's fair.
I only got a chance to play for around an hour since I didn't have much time but the game is pretty great. I usually dislike crafting games but it was a lot of fun getting to work on a giant base with a bunch of strangers. The art is fantastic and despite being an alpha the game looks really polished and runs great on my GTX 970 (max settings, 1080p, never below 60 FPS).
My only real complaint after an hour would be the voice acting. Character speech is too frequent so you end up hearing the same recycled dialogue pretty often which can get slightly annoying but it's not a big deal. For a free to play game the quality of everything is insane, it feels like a AAA release despite only being an alpha.
So how's the building? Is it like those survival games where you're pretty much forced to build with others due to scarcity of materials or can you build some awesome things alone?
Materials can be obtained by breaking down objects that exist within the level, you can basically take apart anything you see. From there you can use the raw materials to craft equipment or to construct fort pieces such as floors, walls, stairs, etc. There are a lot of resources available to allow you to build whatever you want. In the alpha you can only queue up for public matchmaking so you are forced to play with others, but in the final release there are plans to support private lobbies which would allow you to play by yourself.
From my experience, everybody goes out and collects materials, then everybody meets back to build a a giant fort. It's interesting because you can create a design of your own, then sit back and watch as other people add onto your design. This definitely seems like a game that should be played with several other people though, I only played easy levels and there were a lot of enemies attacking at one time. I'd imagine it would be very easy to get overrun by enemies if you tried to go solo.
Sounds good, hope they add some solo elements as every now and then I just want to test things out and I don't want to make people mad that I don't play optional.
And the trailer is just bringing up a bunch of questions, Obviously the meat of the game is about building forts and defending yourself against the zombie horde. But how exactly do the game works, is it open world? But the trailer says that you will visit different locations, so is it level based? Is it hub based and different hubs open up depending on the level and the fort is "main area" and you just loot in a hub? How do the connection work? Do you just join a game or? How many players can a game have? I'm assuming not a lot since it looked like you could rescue people to help defend your fort(?) Can you switch classes mid game?
But the trailer just raises more questions then it answers, and I'm not paying 40€ just to see how certain things work.

Its not open world. If you're familiar with Warframe, it is similar to that method of getting into games & playing with people. Join a mission with up to 3 friends, get matched with others, or play solo.
Super excited to get Fortnite out to the world, the game is really fun! Hoping people enjoy it, I can't wait to play on my ps4
@moose so is there a function for people to join mid game? Cause I don't recall if Warframe had that. Or is the game fine tuned so that it balances out if a person leaves? How would you rate the game overall?
So I was going to "pre order" the game and it then asked me for my region. Please don't tell me this game is seriously region locked to whatever region I want and if I want to play with american friends I have to buy another copy? If so EPIC can just go choke on something.

That means you'll probably be skipped over. Betas/alphas generally always reject people connected to the industry. :P
yup, never check that box!!!
Awww darn. Walked right into that one.
If you have a secondary email just re-register.
Years ago I would always check that box and lie thinking it would increase my chances...

game informer Okay tomorrow some more info, cool.-Unless you mean that 1 minute video with hardly any game play footage then that is not enough for my greedy eyes.

i love it, and play it every day, even after working on it all day!
Been looking for a good co-op game for a really long time.
Will we be able to have our own servers? Just wondering because playing this kind of games with lag sucks =/
Enjoy
