Hey quicky here,
Is there a way for me to be able to 'filter' out an artists Thumbler with tags from their archive or not?
The reason I'm asking this is because I would like to bookmark many artists that use a Thumbler, problem is, alot of the stuff on their thumb page (even through archive) is a mess of diary, videos and other stuff not related to their work, sometimes they put outright pornography animated images.
So yeah, anyone know who to deal with these kind of pages? Cheers.

If it's Tumblr - it's worth checking this information - http://staff.tumblr.com/post/34933619/new-feature-tag-filtering - and of course from there, we can look into how you search minus a tag.
If it's "Thumblr" - you might need to provide a link, since I just can't find anything through google.
And yeah, some of my favourite artists, sure do like bookmarking things that are NSFW >_>
And yeah, it tends to be the artists responsibility to clean their work, was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to do it through the outside or maybe some kind of 'filter' system in place I might have missed.
Incase anyone is wondering, here is an example, not the best, but should make sense:

Messy, loads of videos, etc, but wait, whats this?!
http://emmyc.tumblr.com/tagged/art
They have a direct tag at the top of their page for all their 'polished' work. Not the easiest to spot, but works.
Incase anyone is wondering, the reason I'm asking this is because I'm curios as to how someone with only a messy Thumblr would be able to apply to a job with said messy site.
Cheers!
I'd say, Don't make a messy tumblr!
I made a seperate tumblr 'blog' specifically for redirecting clients to, and it's been the most fun (and simple) to use so far. So I'd support it as a means to apply for jobs.
((I forgot to bookmark it, but i noticed someone mentioned a chrome add-on that could filter feeds (may have been reddit related? - so maybe there's still alternative search methods out there).
Let us know if you end up making a tumblr! ^_^
what is thumblr ?
It's also kinda like facebook, since you can 'reshare' an image or piece of text from the person who created said stuff.
Problem is, for the all the streamlined layout it has:
a) It's very clunky to use as a visitor (text is small, accounts are links, etc)
b) Everything is linked, so if you google search an image, you'll be visiting 100 thumblr accounts before you reach the original one.
c) People who keep an account generally tend not to keep them in a clean format for easy browsing.
You can take a look at the example I posted to get a feel for it.
i googled but dont see any "thumblr"
anyways, regarding your original question i think it isnt worth it since tumblr image links seem to be randomly assigned instead of being account specific.
where oop meets twerk
(sorry)
If you use it as a portfolio site, you will be uploading the image yourself, so if people do reblog it, your link will be listed in the notes. You can also put your URL as the source, which is carried throughout the reblogs(unless someone removes it, adding your URL to the image would be better). In order to see the original poster, either check the source URL or view the notes.
Also, Tumblr supports HTML and CSS, which both can easily be edited within the website itself. There are thousands of free and paid themes for people that want to use the site as a portfolio.
I've been a Tumblr user for a few years now, I just don't use it as a portfolio.
with regards to the layouts and and text, etc - it's all in the theme. You can find themes that change the size of images and text(plus there's some control in the customisation page), plus they change the layout, how things are displayed, whether notes and reblogs are displayed, etc etc. You get the point :P
So yeah, it's on the owner.
It is annoying when people don't link or credit the original poster, but I thought tumblr fixed that to link back to the original?
Anyway, tumblr Woo!
The post carries every single note with it, whether it's a like or a reblog. There is also an option on the right in the post dialogue that allows you to put a URL as a 'source'. You could post something and I could reblog it and put my URL as the source, but in the notes, it would still say you posted it. The whole source URL thing is screwed up, since it's so easy to just erase or replace the original source. Sometimes, if the image is popular, there can be thousands of notes(I've seen over a million on a few things), so scrolling through the notes can be time consuming when you only see like 20 at a time. You have to click "show more notes" to load 20 more, then show more, then show more, and so on.
Then, there are the people that include the original URL(like for Flickr or DeviantART) in the caption, but that's also open for anyone to remove or replace.
To be honest, after having said of this, Tumblr doesn't seem like the best option for posting your art if you're worried about people stealing it or whatever. Now, if you just want a lot of redirects to your page or something(internet fame is great!), it's an awesome site.
