Hi, i'm currently on my 3rd (And best attempt thus far) to learn modelling, started with Softimage a while back, failed, tried maya a while after that, also failed; Now i've moved on to 3ds Max and feel comfortable with the interface, can make basic shapes and such.
I want to learn to model to improve my level design (Source Engine), now I have learned the basics however I'm struggling to find suitable tutorials; Does anyone know of any good tutorials, something like a tutorial that covers some of the more advanced techniques (Experimented with creating objects straight from polygons and splines) to create a prop/weapon for a game, covering textures and importing into the game engine.
Thanks in advance, looks like a great community

Also look at the celeryland post in the P&P area.

Those 2 links seem to be aimed at level design, I'm looking for help to learn modelling to improve my level design (So many half-life 2 mods look stale due to the usage of stock content which has been around for a long time)
I will re-post this thread in the open forum, thanks for the advice.

These two are the best if you want to spend a bit of money, I reccoment Eric Maslowski's 3DS Max 101.
This is Eric's Forum from his website with a bunch of free videos that are really helpfull (all from the paid dvd) : http://lounge.ego-farms.com/showthread.php?t=66
Have a look round that forum for lots of helpful tutorials.
Other than that just look on YouTube for intro 3ds max tutorials!
A few handy keywords would be Organic modeling, Poly modeling and Modifiers.
