Personally, I think you should stray further from the original. Right now it looks like you just added spikes to the default helmet.

As for your post of the horn in the front (post 13) I'd suggest angling the two side-tusks off to the sides so from the front it is viewed as a triangle. It looks great from the profile view but I think you could make it less parallel in the front. As for the body, I'd love to see your addition with a full silhouette of Nyx. That way it will be easier to see how well the silhouette is fitting in with the rest of the body. Good work so far, and keep it up!
