Clockwork Windrunner

Okay so just starting to concept right now, first 5 minute sketch plus a five minute bow sketch for a mechanical themed Windrunner.

I want to keep the forest theme going so that each piece fits with her normal gear so obviously some changes need to be made. The crow-feather mantle is sort of confusing the mechanical theme as well so that will probs go.

Next is to bash out a few more concepts then on to base mesh.

What do people think?

Im doing windrunner as well and im not sure we can build wrist/belt for her. The only slots available are Helmet (Hair) Shoulder, back, Quiver, weapon. Other than that its looking really nice!

If you want your item to get in the game you need to take the characters story much more seriously. Doing a clockwork theme for Windrunner isn't something Valve would likely accept.

Yeah some good points, I just jumped straight into sketching without reading too much into the details. After having read through the briefs I'm gonna have another go, maybe design something more in-keeping with the character backgrounds. Thanks guys.

Okay had another quick go, hopefully fitting Windrunner's background a little better now.

So it's sort of a bird theme to fit the nature/godchild of the wind aspect a little better. Wadda people reckon?

I think the headgear remind me a bit too much of a mardi-gras mask.
Otherwise it's not bad. I dig the bow - and I'm assuming the shoulder bits are feathers? they could stand to get a less noisy silhouette methinks.

Also I'd find somewhere to break up the symmetry a wee bit - it's a fairly prevalent theme in most of the character designs (and notably so with windrunner)

    any thoughts on colors yet?

I really like the curves in the most recent bow design. It might look better if you thickened it up a bit though, as it's going to be seen from very far away and chunky is typically better than thin when it comes to this sort of thing.

Tried to alter a few things with this next pass...
Tried to tackle the symmetry a bit and have tried to match up the rest of the outfit with the bow. Think it's looking more like a set now and less like individual pieces.

Also I'm going to have a go at thickening the spindley pieces when I start modelling everything, I expect they'll have to come out due to the lowish polycount anyhow.

Colour is next but I'll be sticking to Windrunners base colours, potentially going for a wooden design with the shoulders and head-piece.
