I keep coming back to this trying to make a choice, honestly all three look amazing. I think the best course of action is to test them in engine and see which colors read best with in game lighting and against the map.
Love those wings, the feathers are so fluffy and wonderful!
I'd be concerned about losing the brown wings against her brown forelegs, but I do like the white feathers on those. Perhaps you could use the white primaries with the green colourscheme?
I like the first one the most, but color scheme wise you should probably pic the 3rd!
btw, you found some good tutorials on skinning/rigging in Maya?
I had rigged once in Maya before... but it was so long ago I had totally forgotten. I watched Qwiggalo's tutorial. Which just jolted some old memories. (THANKS QWIGGALO!!!)
Pretty much have your outliner window open, and set the menus to Animation. Select in the outliner your mesh, then select in the outliner the joint/s you want to skin to. Then go to SKIN > BIND SKIN > SMOOTH BIND options. First drop down set it to SELECTED JOINTS and away you go!
yeah I'm torn as to which colour to go with. I'll continue to paint in the green and just convert the colours as I need them. The way I set up my file lets me do that with ease

!! THATS A GREAT IDEA!!! I'll have a pop at that first thing in the morning! Thanks
So a bit of a tangent today, I had some ideas for a weapon for this set finally and once I get an idea I need to flesh it out! I narrowed my selection to these two weapons and would like peoples thoughts on them.
and i like the first one the most,
with that ring part, and I was thinking maybe you could at some light are crystal in the middle
shiny parts are always a win! xD
Great work so far! It really looks like she is sprouting some wings If you are still considering the different weapon options, I'd go with the middle one. It has a more distinct silhouette than the third option and I'm digging the serrated edge.
Going to call it for the diffuse texture for now.
Moving on to the weapon and then move to the next armour set.
Even tho I'm not 100% sold on the color scheme of the wings, everything looks pretty good, except the part where the head wings connect. Maybe you could make the base of the wings the same color as her hair to make it match / blend in a little better. Other than that, awesome job, can't wait to see more.
The textures are quite good, but I get the idea you either don't play dota at all, or don't bother to actually read the heroes lore and look at the hero.
Enchantress if you didn't notice is actually a half doe, half human.
Neither of those creatures have wings, or sets of wings, or head wings.
I really do mean your texture work is quite amazing, but it is far from the character in any possible way.
In adding cosmetics that are so far from the characters design and lore, then this game will be as far gone as tf2 is now, months before it's actual release.
This isn't as bad as that cowboy ursa that actually popped up a while ago, and dreadfully made it in, but it's pretty bad.
Oh snap, nice find! I forgot to blend it to the forehead skin. I'll fix that up.
The good thing about finishing early is I have time to make adjustments and all that. Especially as you look back on something a few weeks later and see it looks like ass.
You know, when i first saw this and your other unicorn thread, I *almost* didn't want to do the Enchantress cause I figured there was no way I could top such awesome designs. I totally love the wings even though I'm not someone who knows the lore of the game all that well, I think the fact you made them fit her character is amazing and were i to play the game I'd quite happily shell cash on both designs you've done! Personal preference says I probably wouldn't take the wings on her head as they're still a bit large for my liking, but they fit well with the overall design. If it had been me, I'd maybe have gone for a bird resting in her hair with those colours, or something along those lines! Either way the design rocks!
Qwiggalo: Yeah that's because the texture res on the weapon is 1024 where as the rest is only 512. I made an error in doing the armour in 512's instead of 1024's :<

Playing around with a new weapon design. Not sure if I like. Looks like an animal head :<

Also did a little more texturing but mainly got my colours sorted. I think...
Moving on to the weapon and then move to the next armour set.
:_
Love it in all ways!!
Okay I wasn't really feelin the weapon :< so I'm gonna make a new thread for the other armour.
I like it!

Thanks for the comments!
the feather design really suit her well.
I was also a bit looking forward to the unicorn too but what you've done so far alone is terrific
I'm going to do some more adjustments to them and see how it goes.
Finished the high for the weapon. Onto retopo!!!
I baked it and it works!!
What colors are you thinking for it?
I had a stab at these colours...
