Nice! I think the hood is the weakest part right now, maybe because of the proportions, maybe because it's somewhat of an obvious choice (:P). I think if you take the base of the wolf's head and add some armor pieces to it like with the rest of the armor, it'll strengthen the overall design consistency.
Kinda off topic, but what viewport renderer do you use?
I love this idea. I have to agree with Tvidotto. The head does look a little "cartoony" but I think its OK. It will look much better from a far distance when its exaggerated like it is now.
Looks sweet...but kinda messed up that he's wearing a lycans pelt:poly124: If you can come up with a reason why he's wearing a dead wolf, itll be solid, otherwise it kinda goes against the fact that he himself is one. Excellent sculpt though, keep it up:)
looking good!
the only comment I have is that you're making to much small details,
remember that that model is viewed mainly from pretty far up!
the wolf head is ok bc that's viewed in the portrait screen,
but the rest of the fur should be chunkier, just look at the original fur bit,
it's mainly bc you only get a small texture for it,
the normal details will get to small and get pixelated, and you don't want that!
and also that it's clear from high up,
what I'm also thinking is that those claws should be bigger aswell,
just to make it look more bad ass!
@ENODMI: I'm also doing the Lycan so I've thought about that one!
it's bc wolfs aren't a friendly bunch, so they'll fight eachother quite often
like for who's the pack leader, so for the Lycan to get his own pack of wolfs he should as least killed an old pack leader and then he can show off that he killed the previous one to show his strength!
sounds like a pretty good explanation to me! xP
I think he will be fine with the fur, since the lone druid's spirit bear has even tinier details.
Do try to follow the texture pdf valve provides on the workshop info page since its a nice tutorial on how to texture this kind of material within the dota 2 specs.
I think the fur could suit. Perhaps it is a fallen allie? perhaps he slayed the beast that made him what he was. I have no idea on this lycan's lore so don't judge! haha. Looking sweet though!
All i can say is there is such a suave, proper look to Lycan. I think for the pelt to match perhaps make the buckles nice and neat and gold to match the frills of shirt he wears.
Could be in order to gain leadership and control over his spirit wolves he needed to slay the Alpha wolf and shows his continued dominance by wearing his skins. Little dark but hey could work?
oh man! You are really good at sculpting! Damn, I need to get better! hah. I love this concept! LOVE IT! One of my favorite so far. I can see you winning if this comes out as nice as it looks right now. So good! Love how his teeth and the top teeth go together and make the whole set match.
got these parts baked down, this is the LOD1 in game lower poly mesh.i still have another additional shoulder armor slot to use, so ill try and work in something cool, here is a quick shot of the diffuse only block in with the 256 textures for a test. ill adjust detail scale when i get it in game.
smoke em if ya got em.
Awesome work! Really like where you taking this! Wish I would have seen this earlier my teammate and me are kinda doing a similar take but on the Druid. Just a tad darker and more savage / wild.
Hope it wont conflict interest! Nice Bake that you have going and looking forward to the updated diffuse!
kinda ran out of time, took a minute to get it rigged and uploaded. tried to keep it simple and swap-able with the existing armor. i hope the mask isn't to much, i could do something else to dial it back, but i like the strong theme it gives.
the lore
The mighty pelt of a fallen foe. serves as a fore warning to enemies and friends alike of what's capable when the Lycan is near.
I like how in the bottom perspective the Headpiece's muzzle fits the Lycan's fang. Although he obviously can't see a thing from under that wolf's skull!
thanks guys,
$inz, your right about the bg, i make the pelt dark so it reads really well in game, then i was going for the moonlit look, so its definitively loosing some pop.
axes D Nyde, thanks and yes, i just rigged it to the bones and they have some drag and sway on them so it does behave like cloth,(this was all set up already on the bones)

Will look great no matter what!
I think you're going to have issues with this from a character/lore point of view, Why would Lycan wear the skin/fur of a wolf?
smoke em if ya got em.
diffuse pass 1
it's a lot of black though,
can you show it with the original body tex underneath?
Hope it wont conflict interest! Nice Bake that you have going and looking forward to the updated diffuse!

Loving the set though.

his overal look gets a bit dark though, messes up the color scheme a bit
but still awesome work!
