I tried masking out an area and creating a poly group. Hid and deleted hidden poly group. Even if you mirror your tool, it will still create a plate (2 planes) in the middle-- (even if they're overlapping)whenever you re DM or close holes.
Of course you have the option to use shadow box, but I'm guessing your asking with regards to a more complex piece of geometry.
The dirtiest solution I currently found is overlapping the planes as you mentioned, but it takes several tries to get it correct (EI: they must be really close and almost thin) eventually, after a few tries the mesh will start getting holes, but it takes a while to get them, hence why I was hoping to find a more direct solution.
Nothing it wrong with it, just sometimes I feel lazy and just want to keep on Dynameshing 'traditonally' when I'm slouched in my chair if that makes sense
Well, I take it back, it's not only possible... it's pretty easy. I didn't have my meshes close enough to the origin when preforming the mirror and weld step (which seems to shift). No sound, but I made a short video-- if anyone else is interested in how to do this.
