UAT Art Jam - 2D Critique 1
This Thread has been created for the University of Advancing Technology Art Jam. The Art Jam consists of three days of creating 2D and 3D game-quality art given a random theme. Artists will convene multiple times a day to post their progress and receive critiques, using these Polycount Forum Threads as a submission tool.
This event is open for everyone to join, but our critiques are given priority to artists that are present at UAT during the critique time. For those that are not present, we will reply to your post if the time is available. We will also be live streaming, the link is http://ustre.am/N8VS.

Went with an Art-Deco inspired personal hover speeder, possibly part of an entire in-universe with constellation inspired names.
So, I looked up Southern Cross and got some stuff about the Aborigines and a possum. So thats what I'm drawing. I just have the basic outline completed so far.
According to the story:
"The two brightest stars of the cross, Alpha and Beta Crucis, are the Two Brothers. The fish is the dark patch close by (the Coal Sack)."
So my design is derived from a sort of darkness or loneliness to reflect the void of space and the blank area that the fish represents in the constellation. The character will take traits from the Rock Cod and the Angler Fish. The Rock Cod has "12 venomous spines on the dorsal fin"

The Angler Fish has a glowing appendage that sits on its head (which will represent the cosmos).
