this is my first post, and this is a vampire character im working on, I think hel turn out as a Beast or Assasin, wana go for something samurai like on the armor later.
Very nice start, im unfamiliar with the mixamo challenge, but here are some things I noticed.
You should work a bit more on the bicep/tricep area as well as the inner thigh. The muscle volume look like they need to be "stretched" more. remember the instertion/attachment points for each muscle and stretch it between those.
The rib cage looks too short as well and looks like it stops at the pectorals. Try pulling that down.
I agree with Kyle, the rib cage is really too short. And with that belt you lose the V shape of the torso.
The hands and the head look cool, but everything else could be way better. The ankles look wrong, and the biceps/triceps looks wider at the elbow than at the shoulder, it's a bit strange I think.
ok guys, thanks for the crits, this is the body right now, this is pretty much how far my anatomy knowlage goes, so if there are more problems I would really love a paintover or something.
ok, update, thanks for the pointers Texelion,I really appreciate it!
and haeey Disaray! long time no seen, im doing awezome, how about you? ye i really hope the design works, and that its just the anatomy that needed some tweaks.
anyways, here is what I got, gonna do some resculpting on the rib cage, defining the actual ribs, its kinda blobby atm, but im pretty happy with the proportions now,
Nice character, really like the gear he wears, especially the wooden shoes. I'm making a beast character, which will almost wear nothing. Going to be hard to compete against all those cool armors and stuff.
here is some more work on this guy, finished the swords and put them on his back, gonna do a strap/sheet for them tomorrow, also did some work on the belt to match the engravings on the swords.
god...spent so much time on this low poly, he was a nightmare lol xD, and hes at 15,5K triangles to... >,< so gotta remove 500 of em somewere, I have my ideas but i just wanna start working on the texturing!!
Yeah I'm working on retopology too, what a nightmare, I just did some tests with baking and... damn, have to retopo again 'cause it looks bad, or can be optimized...
I'm sure that you can reduce the wrappings, and perhaps the handles of the blades too, they could be straight. The rings on the pauldrons look high too.
Texelion: ye, totaly know what you mean, your low poly looks great though, but I gues thats what hard work does =P
nechnechmo and Snipergen: thank you so much!
Di$array: hey mate, thanks! well, your demands shall be answered!
Finally done with the lowpoly, spent like two days just retoping, cleaning, reprojecting and laying UVs, kinda tired of this guy now to be honest xD but now comes the fun part, textures!
and here are some pics, nothing to show really, the lowpoly kinda looks the same as the highpoly xD
Texelion, boybawang and lin_firefly I love you guys, thanks!
Here is the latest update, I wanna do some more work on the leather parts, and the swords needs a bucket of love. but other then that I think im quite happy with it, started to work on a podium for him to, updates on that will proably come later on to.
jerometado, mix, Nello, Dan!, Hellhound and j9net: thank you so much guys *blushing* =P
jramauri: haha dont worry, thanks man, your char looks great to, really like what youve done with him.
sipher3325: ofc! its nothing special really, retop was done in zbrush, and UVs to, I first import the model into zbrush for a basic unwhrap using Uv master, then take it back to max to correct seams and move stuff around, Il post the UV map in my next update (its really crap though, did not spend the time I should have on this one). so bascicly its just hard work, spent like 2 whole days on just retop and unwhrap.
so heres a small update anyways
did not fix all the stuff I wanted, but fixed up the specular map and repainted the swords, and also did a platform for him to stand on. now its just posing left.
Mother of god, you did the retopo and uvs in zbrush... Chapeau ! I tried retopo in zbrush once... never ever again...
I know that the platform is not the most important thing, but it looks too smooth, too "plastic", you could crease the edges a bit or put some highlights on them. If you did champfers, they are maybe too large and don't really catch the light.
Anyway, great work on the character ^^. Maybe the swords are a bit too high, they look hard to grab. If I try to make the move, my shoulders hurt.

Look forward to progress on this, great start.
KyleHicke: thanks, tried to implement some of the things u said, but clothing is gonna cover most of him, as you can see xD.
here is an update anyways, tell me what you think!

Beware of the ankles, the inner bone is always higher than the exterior one.
If you extend the rib cage, you have to move all the upper body up.
Really loving the sculpt and design you've got so far but texelion has done a great paint over that really pushes it further.
Good luck man and keep it up!

hers a paint over I did in photoshop, I think I like the colors, but im unsure what to do with the armor plates, so i just made em black, any ideas?
dont have much time, so this is just a small upadte, did some work on the hands and feet, tried a new shoe design, and ragged up the clothing.
working on the weapons right now, il post pictures on that tomorow.

and a close up on the swords
weeell I think this is my final HP, so starting the low poly right now and see where it goes.

I demand an update!

just a basic color pass, normals. thers also an alpha for the cloth parts on him. so now its time to do the actual texturing!
