DC's Lobo - character- WIP - feedback?

Hi Guys and Gals! First post, fresh and shiny!
For my studies as a game artist I have to create a 3D realtime character based on a comic book figure. I chose DC's Lobo.

lobotest.jpg

Its obviously still a WIP (no spec map, normal map/model have some glitches) I am currently roughing in the colors and I am using this cover art as reference but nothing is set in stone yet: http://images.wikia.com/marvel_dc/images/c/cb/Lobo_Death_and_Taxes_1.jpg
If anybody has ideas on how I can improve my work I would love to hear them!

Thanks!

    Welcome to Polycount FrederikP!

Maybe doing the facial tattoos would help him read more like Lobo. Those and the cigar are his trademarks. The meathook is a bit wimpy as well. Fatten up the chain a bit to ;)
Otherwise I feel like he is sort of a 50's rockabilly style. Maybe you could style him to look like he suddenly turned up in the movie Grease and is just about to slash everyone up. Also you could make tattoos more like 50's style. Maybe a bit of an Elvis curl. Just a few suggestions to make your character into a unique interpretation of Lobo. Otherwise the model looks pretty solid and has good proportions, although I always liked the slim waist and the broad shoulders look.

Hi Satrio, thanks for your feedback! All of your points are very useful and I will make the suggested changes as soon as I have the time! Do you have any tips on the color map as well by any chance?

    Cheers!

Looks like the greeen channel of your normal map is inverted. Plop it into Photoshop and invert it and it should look right.

Hi Swizzle, thanks for the tip but what makes you think its inverted? I checked it in Maya (by placing a light and looking how the model responds to it) and it seemed ok.
In this screengrad i placed 3 lights in total, a key light from the top right, a rim light from behind the character on the image's left side and a slight red bounce light from below.
But just to be sure I will check it again!

    Any suggestions?

    Update:

Screengrab from Maya, I am using the Kodde realtime shader (http://www.kostas.se/)
I am still planning to brush up the individual textures and paint more details. I am also going to add some props like a proper cigar, grenades and a knife.

    What do you think?

Nice I like your take on him, above his wrist on the final image is that some sort of error?
Looks to be UV but I can't tell from that angle, maybe on his hair on the far left image as well?
