Hey guys, I'm a little late here, I started blocking out my character for the Mixamo contest. I'm usually kinda slow so I hope I will finish up in time.
Good luck to everyone.
Let's get started with the concept,
It's a woman warrior and the concept is made by my awesome friend Daniel levesque (Thanks !!)
Nothing huge so far hahaha, blocking up stuff, you can all see my awesome basemesh,
Here ya go, i'll post news soon,
Replies
Your progress so far is good. The head is looking a tad small and the neck needs to be shortened. As the concept seems to slightly larger breast.
Anyways good luck with the comp!
Anyway, here ya go
Beware, looks like you're doing symmetrical pauldrons, but if you observe the concept, they aren't. The belt of the sword covers the right pauldron which is slightly different.
I will check for the pauldron I did not realize that they were different at all.
I will see if I have time to correct it or not.
Anyway here's a small litte update
-lower lip looks bigger on concept
-arms might be too broad
Tried to correct what you said Blaisoid, I hope it's better then it was.
I have the bad habbit to make the face a bit squished, working more on it.
I think I should to scale the head up like 5-10% it feels a bit small to me, never sure if its because of the shoulder that fools me.
Tomorow i'll try to start that
As far as the sculpt goes, this is looking very awesome! And that face is really starting to look great. Can't wait to see how the hair looks.
Keep it up!
I'd also add larger, longer planes for the hair as her hair current will appear to be to thin and lack any real volume.
Also the clothing on the upper arm (Sorry, I'm not to sure what you call them. anyone?) seem to be on the thin side. When you look at the concept they appear larger and wider.
Other than that it coming along great, especially when you factor in the moving (hope it went well. Personally I hate the damn process). Keep it up.
Its too flat? The planes are a bit smaller then the low resolution one because i subdivided them, but I will try to add bigger one and create more volume.
Sorry for taking so long to update yah. moving next saturday and I actually HATE that process so much, boxes everywhere... pretty annoying!
Anyway, i'll post some update soon hopefully
I marked out some points of interest, you HAVE defined them but they could use a little more of just that.
the things you should focus on is the depth of the eyes, the upper lip could use some enlargement, and the anatomy of the skull.
its probably gonna be covered with hair but anyways, the circle on the forehead is suposed to be flat, and then you have the half circles on the side of the skull, which kinda intersects with the eyesocket, I dont know what they are called but they are pushed in to the skull with a kind of bulge on the top.
hope that mady any sense and that it helped in some way.
By the way, you work is very impressive, love what you are doing with your vampire character
love it, cant wait to see more
Starting the weapon and (I dont know how it is called in english) the thing that hold the weapon.
She looks really good. The face could be better imo, especially the eyes.
I have no clue...
Once again a very big lack of update from my side.
Just coming to announce that obviously I will not finish on time, with the moving, a freelance contract and then 4 days out of town it was a little bit of a busy month for me.
Anyway I will still finish the character for my own pleasure but it will not be part of the contest anymore.
So I just want to wish the best of luck to every contestant, pretty amazing stuff really.
And thank you anyway to all of you guys who have been real helpfull .
Dont really know if I should ask for this thread to be put back in pimping and preview ?
Yeah, go back to P&P is better for you. Changing the name of thread, I believe there will be no problems.
Still had a lot of fun doing it.
I will try to understand how to send a message to a moderator to move the thread soon !
I Know a lot of you guys have some issue with her head/face. I will finish this character and then try doing a lot of quick sculpt / study instead of full character to try to clear up some difficulties I have / break out of my comfort zone a bit.
Anyway, Here it is.
Comments and critics are more then welcome, as usual
I find doing likeness is a really good way to learn faces. Do actors, celebrities, people whom interest you; of varying ethnicity. This way you familiarize yourself with varieties of facial features.
Not sure to understand what you mean about my username being a give away? Maybe its just because english is not my first language...!
Thought you might be ironic with the naming.
I sincerely hope you find time to finish the textures now that the contest deadline has been extended. My advice would be not to get bogged down in the minutiae. As I see it the character is a 90% realized sculpture. Do what you can with the 10 days (or so ) we have left. It would be a shame to not enter it now with the model looking a s good as it does.
she has strange face and hair, very long arms, small hands and some bumps on her breasts
@SharDCG : Like I said before I know a lot of you guys doesn't like my characters faces, comment is coming back again and again and seems like I have issue with those, trying to fix it everytime and still... That's why I will stop just messing out with her face for now and will instead go back and do a lot of quick sculpt after I finish this character, so I can try to get better at those.
I will relook at the proportion of the hands and arms once in low resolution .
So i'm out of this contest after all, wish all of you guys best of luck!!
Condol
Hope things get better for you. Then you can get back into the mindset and able to enjoy this again.
