The Mixamo Fantasy War 3D Character Contest has come to a close and the winners have been chosen! [/font]

We were hard pressed to choose only three winners. In fact there was a lot of debating in the Mixamo office last week about who should take the title but through the democratic process of hand raising, we finally elected the winners:[/font]

Those are some amazing entries right?! Wouldn't it be cool to run them through the Mixamo Auto-Rigger and start applying some of our monster, action or adventure motions? Want to try it out and post a video of the results? We would love to see your work in motion![/font]

Lastly, we would also like to give a huge shout-out to the awesome members, participants, and crew of the Polycount Forums for allowing us to invade their forums. We got such a wonderful response from the community and some of the best submissions to date! Does the 15 000 tris include the weapon? (I would assume not) In that case, if I created a super hi poly weapon would it be acceptable in the comp? Additionally, would I be able to use a weapon I've previously created, or is currently WIP?
Just a few questions I had that others might like cleared up

Or is it an all-out just-make-what-you-want creature competition like the Dominance Wars? As long as said creature uses one of the weapon classes - but stylewise and such complete freedom?

1. You can create your own weapon. The idea is to create a class in one of the five described on the page. You can use the weapons we have if you like and or create your own.
2. Polycount includes weapons.
We're really open to creativity. Humanoid is about as complex as the rules get.

Your character most definitely does not have to be human this is fantasy based be creative however characters should be bipedal.
First of all 15,000 tris total for all polygonal assets related to the character.
A base wouldn't count towards the limit. Also you are encouraged to create your own weapons as long as it adheres to the weapons class of your choosing:

what does it cover? it doesn't say the wip thread has to be made after the contest starts.
I have a question though, are the characters to be modeled in t-pose or a pose of our choosing?
Is that the explicit texture specification or just a maximum size?
Are we allowed to use 4x1024² instead?
Are we allowed to use fancy shader magic on any set of 6 RGB textures?
I was thinking along the lines of decals/emblems or swapping out different fur/fabric types.
#1 A new character is recommend and starting the WIP is assuming your starting after the contest has begun. If you have an older work there is no rule "against" it but to be far it would be nice to start something new.
#2 2048 for weapon would fall within the rules but I would say don't go that big unless necessary.
#3 if your not a 2d artist and a friend works out a concept art piece for you please use it, we're not going to be pricks about minor details like that.
#4 2048x2048 Textures Max, is a cumulative total. E.G. you can use 4x1024² instead.
#5 You can create your own shaders but nothing too fancy, lets keep it in the real time conditions area please .
@Snader as long as it could still be run in real-time do anything you like with the shaders.

- About the style and setting, should it be absolutely pure medieval fantasy or it may be some mix of fantasy with let's say sci fi, steampunk etc?
- If I choose a knight, is that allowed to replace a shield with a second sword, make 2 swords instead of 'sword and shield'? I concern because a shield of any size would cover some part of a character anyway And is that allowed to make, for example, a light armor set instead of heavy armor? Or if I choose an assassin, can I make 2 short or medium length swords instead of daggers?
- Also I assume we can make a character of any class of any gender, for example a female knight, a male archer, a male assassin. If not, please comment that

1. midieval fantasy is a target but if you want to incorporate some kind of magic tech (ala steam punkish) go for it, be creative!
2. Please try to stick with the sword shield combo if possible. If you want make a two sword users best choose assassin and make the daggers more like short swords. That would be ok.
3. Any gender is fine, just have fun.
