so, when we can start? today? tomorrow? we need to define a hero
some guys started slarks sets on the forum, we could follow them, what you guys think?
Damn, you got excited for this xD
If we start now and have a month-long deadline, I might not be able to make it as I have my first final this monday and the last in approximately a month. I'm still up for it though ^^
Hi all love the work everyone is doing, your stuff inspires me and helped push me to get more serious on my modeling. while I am not a pro <as you will see> I could use help.
My weapon and have looked up on this and other forums and it was working before, but then they updated and am hoping it wasn't just me doing something wrong or missing a step on getting my weapon in the game.
<the weapon is sized right> so import the SMD, I line up my model over the orginal weapon placement, Xform it, <change the pivot>, Skin/add the bone, collapse, export the model and weapon_root together.
Sorry to the mess up in amazing Dota 2 art/weapons any help is welcome
You could start a new thread with a poll for the sole purpose of making a decision and link it in here. I don't think that would be do excessive?
As for timeframe perhaps we could start it soon and take it all the way through to the end of next month? and then keep it as a regular monthly project? would be enough time to give everyone who wants to enter the opportunity, even if they have other commitments.

im not used to reddit, but could be nice to other people voting, this way they can feel that they are part of the project too =]
we need a deadline for the voting, something like this weekend
It would be good if we could make a separate thread somewhere (like the polycount contest forum) just to keep track of all of the contest-specific stuff so we don't keep spamming this thread.
Well, we could wait until the start of February which would make each contest the length of the month it's in. That would be the neatest way to do it but it means slightly less than two weeks until the first one starts, perhaps that would give everyone a chance to finish their current projects?

Consider making the start of the contest line up with the completion of the poll, and it would be nice to at least have the poll run for 24 hours to give all timezones a chance to be involved in the voting.

I second this. I was imagining that where the contest would be held.
Would be cool to get a new doto thread for the new year anyway
Some work in progress animations for a new courier I am working on with Foe, these are still work in progress, have plenty more to work on.
Also have concept for a living ward idea done by Foe, the current wards feel to boring and lack potential when it comes to animation side of the project. Hopefully these can change that. They also aren't dedicated to a single hero.
I believe we are leaning toward the bottom two, the middle one being the most interesting in our opinions.
haha. i'd doodled a few living ward things in mind but those are waaay better. nice to see stuff that isn't just rehashed hero armour stuck on an eyeball
After few months i've decided to start working again on some dota 2 stuff.
So i went back to the model i was doing for the Dota2 contest and i never finished.
But this time, inspired by Anuxi, i decided to open a live broadcast channel and show my process, or part of it at least.

Hey guys, you might remember me from a while ago. Probably not, I never did very much.
Well, I'm back! With a vengeance! The polycount contest left me a little disheartened, frankly. I felt kind of un-motivated throughout and especially after, I couldn't find the will to make something when I knew it'd just be buried under all the professional talent that came in with the contest. I feel as if my original weapon just got accepted by pure luck of being early.
But anyway.
I've finally decided I should continue to work, because failing if anything has made me want to improve. Here's my new concept (Yes, Templar assasin AGAIN! 3 failed sets, and I'm back!) I really like her as a hero and I still super enjoy playing her and would love some of my own items for her

a pool is a good idea, how we do that here?
By creating a new topic I guess.

If they havent updated it on the site, you can probably pull it from the ingame files.
