Been working at Id Software for nearly 2 years now. I have had the honor of working with Id Tech 5 and it's highlight feature which allowed me too stamp endless amount of texture detail on our megatextures. I also had the honor of leading and training a crew of wonderful artists in texture stamping in many of our Rage environments
In this post, I'm show before and after images of three different Rage environments. It was somewhat complicated to get aligned before and after shots in IdTech5 until the request of a bookmarking system so I only have handful of before images.
Enjoy!

These next three are after I'm done...I don't have before shots. sorry
Wow, glad you managed to take before-after shots, especially terrains. Really puts tech into perspective. Seems like texture stamping workflow really helped unify and pull environments together and get rid of any cg-ness they might have.
Fuck yeah Phillip! Been wanting to see what you have been doing for the longest time. Amazing work buddy! This is going straight into my inspiration folder!
Great work, I really liked the before/after shot that had been posted on the Modo site a while back, happy to see more!
Could you say more about the process? What kind of tools are in the editor, was there a texture library that was shared across all the artists for consistency, or they all go and fetch their own stuff, is stamping across multiple meshes completely seamless, etc?
Dayumn, that looks pretty!
thanks for sharing, Phillip. All this ID Tech5 knowledge is really limited, so thank you very much for sharing once again! Really interesting to peek behind the scenes with this one.
Coool stuff! It's nice to see works of an artist that is using tools that let him be just that... an artist... Anyway coold stuff... loving the rage art dumps that have been popping here the forum

Good job man!
love the before and afters, the way the geo seams disappear and the overall improvement in lighting is just awesome.
Love the first few before and after shots showing how dramatically you really pulled the scenes together.
Now it's your turn!

Definitely a nice workflow, I hope you had a spline tool for roads/paths too!
Cool stuff, it looks great! Thanks for sharing
Great work!
