Made this fella earlier this summer. Pretty much all of the things on my Artstation are personal work because I've improved so much in my 'free time' (what is free time, anyways? haha.) over the last few months.
These are super fun- I'm excited to see more. My one comment might be that some of the design elements are feeling a little small/delicate relative to how cartoony/shapey the artwork is generally. As an example, the Tyranny concept has those chunky volcanic rocks (awesome!) and a big fat blade, but those smaller metal bars on the mid-left side with those tiny rivets in them feel a little out of place to me. Similar stuff is happening in several of the pieces- details like that could be bigger and bolder. That's a minor complaint though, I like the work.
Lorelai's Spellbook: "Incantations, Elixirs, and Malevolent Magicka of the Misguided"
Hidden on the dustiest bookshelf of a conjurer's swamplands dwelling, secluded completely in the shadows other than when the beams of the full moon hit the spine at the perfect angle... Base spellbook upon which I will paint some VFX concepts.
Finished up this fella a few weeks back. Not perfect, but I got some great feedback that'll make the next one better! You can see the high-rez on my Artstation.
A simple forest altar. Felt really good to be using those old industrial design skills. I missed working on clean linework! Used by local and nomadic followers of the clerical forest goddess as means to pass through the woods safely. Although its stone was fatigued and the paint was worn away, it seemed to always glow a soft radiance a little longer after the sun was down.
Designed a dwarven axe on commission. I've been doing a lot of mostly realistic stuff at work, so it's nice to come back to this painterly stuff on the side. You can see the hi-rez here.
Finished this one up the other day. Hmm. I struggled with making the hat match the scene and could have tinkered with this for a lot longer, but I felt ready to step away from it. Always accepting feedback to apply to the next one!
Hey Becca nice work! I think something that could help some of your pieces is some larger form changes. Try using a very large airbrush on a multiply layer on for large shapes to frame the focal point. I did a quick paintover of what im talking about, its messy but I hope it help show my point
Thank you, @pesimoes c: I appreciate it! And thanks for that paintover, @Aluvay! I might go back and make some of those edits for sure, that's super helpful. It certainly covered some of my concerns with lighting and tones
Another weapon complete! This one's a big ol' hammer. Here's the process GIF, and the steps on this one are a little slower so that they're easier to see
@beccatherose I love that you used 3D as a base for the bow's starting point? Looks awesome, love the colors!
I really like to start with a very simple, basic base before I start sketching something complicated that's going to be in perspective. For the crossbow, you can see in that first frame that it's very quick and just there to save some time. I really don't recommend doing it unless you have a strong hold on 2-point perspective, but if you do, it's really efficient! I just build it in Maya and take a screenshot of the viewer, and then sketch over that in Photoshop. It's great Give it a try!
Thanks to everyone who has commented recently, I really appreciate all of the kind words! Y'all are too sweet.
Just put this cutie together for the launch of my Patreon, which ya'll can see here! This drawing includes a timelapse with some audio about myself. I'm doing a lot of art tutorials and sharing the behind-the-scenes of my workflow. Definitely check it out if you're working on improving your own art!
wow, those line work pieces are beautiful! would love to see more in that vein.
Thanks! I really like doing linework over 3D block-ins, I've just been so busy working on painting. XD And I love the ninja, by the way! The simple, elegant shapes look awesome.
Process GIF of one of my recent textures! I'm trying to do more variations of a single type of texture. Multiple kinds of bark/rock/whatever. It's a fun challenge.

Thanks, @arcade- That was the first piece I was pretty proud of. A bit of a flagship of improvement for me.
You can see his render on Artstation along with his model sheet.

2.5-3 hours in Photoshop from scratch. Based on a daily challenge theme from Art Camp.

I'm still practicing characters, though. Gotta get more comfortable with them.
