That spine is awesome. Modo looks so fast for hard surface stuff, is that just because of the way you have it set up or is it the program itself making life easier?
dpaynter: yeah, I just made it up as i went : )
igi: edge weighting is great, I dont use it that much for my final models, but I do use it alot while im building stuff, should use it more since its really great. For placing bolts etc Im using one of senecas scripts.
passerby: yeah, it costs money though to stream HD I think : )
Gannon: the wiring is just the standard tubetool, the bolts is a script by seneca, dont remember the exakt name, but every modo user should have his scripts.
are you gonna keep his legs like that?..It looks weird to me, are you doing all your hardsurface stuff in zbrush? cause i'm curious what your approach is, other then that..your work is amazing ^_^v
Wow, is that vray?
You should block in the remaining parts of the body in those renders so we(and you) can get an overall feel of how it's gonna look like finished. Right now those pieces you've modeled look great on their own but there is always the risk of it turning into a huge pile of very detailed parts.
How are you finding Uppsala btw?
Jungsik: Thanks : ))nah, his legs are gonna change alot : )) I do my hardsurface stuff in modo.
Goraaz: Nah, its modos renderer : )) Yeah, I should block the rest out, but im too lazy. I have a fairly detailed 3D concept to work after though, so i have the main shapes etc locked down. Uppsala is great : D

he did concepcting and shapes in zbrush, and is remaking it all as subd work in modo.
megalmn2000: probably not! But the spine etc is built to be animated, its actually just instances right now, that are posed and so on. So i can animate some of it, even if i bak it down to lowpoly etc.
Devarter: well.. I added a background and pulled up the reflectionslider a bit. Nothing to it really, nothing fancy going on at all in these renderings.
"I didn't have so much time to work on this, so I was only able to come up with this beautiful work of art."
Tor, this is looking fantastic! Love your steady progression, your renders really sell it. I really hope you can pull all this stuff together in the end. It seems you are building it up in a very meticulous, attentive way; each piece could be a finished product on it's own.
Keep going, love watching this thread!
paulsvoboda: thanks dude : ) Yeah, Im trying to really plan things out and have a pretty solid idea of what I want to do with the different parts before I buiild them, so I really hope the end result will fit together nicely : )) In like..2015 when i finish it xD
Loving this project snefer. I agree with paul, it's a pleasure watching you add more and more to this piece by piece. Have you blocked out an overall design/shape yet?
Hmm, yeah, they are supposed to be a part of the other two arms, but can detach from them at either the elbow or the shoulder. So they are not positioned like that all the time : ))
holy crap! this is beast!
Renders look amazing! model has to much detail. I really love the back and spine. I'm totally following this.
How much did u fiddle with the render cause it looks amazing.
really cool stuff here. I love the renders too. While your polishing the high-res ou should include the placeholders that you still havent gotten too. That way we can see it as a cohesive whole. looks super ace!
coots7: yup! Raging art-boner so hard right now! New tools looks so fucking sweet, cant wait to try them out!
Iciban: cheers. I didnt fiddhe anything with the render almsot, its very basic, just some global illumination and a directional light + slight bloom and some postprocessing on the images.
Joshflighter: nah, i have never seen one actually, so I dont know, its pretty basic stuff though : ))
Directional light + global illumination. If you have modo, just try it. I only have a gradient background + the standard directional light and GI on in my renders :P
If you're in Max you can get similar results with Mental Ray. I use HDRI based lighting for it. Really crazy detail with the modelling on this character. Nice!
Bit scared about how you're going to do the legs. Your blockout is showing them a bit too basic, but I feel they might not work. Have anything further to show on them?

The more I watch the videos the more I wanna grab Modo. What're the names of the custom UI and plug-ins?
What are the names of the tools you're using within the package to attach the bolts to the surface and create the wiring that goes on the spine?
dpaynter: yeah, I just made it up as i went : )

spam spam spaaam!
XD
GOD.
Nothing you post could be spam, if you posted images 10x as frequently, no one in their right mind would be annoyed.
Your stuff is so inspirational, as soon as I have some free time spare I'm going back to learn more high poly modeling.

Amazing work .. keep it up
Yeah, it's something about the position of the arms that sticks out the wrong way, to me.
