I agree that the back part is detailed as hell, and the front doesnt look so good. I know you can't just put geo detail in there, but a better texture could help. Maybe a transparent glass showing someone inside?
I think the spec around the tip of the jets could be dulled a bit maybe even some char marks and metal discoloration tossed in to help sell that they're hot or maybe shin up the back half since they're kind of roughed up already?
SimonT:thanks!
Bal: thanks man, no, its just a prop, so I made a quick scene for it.
carlo_c: no, its a render in lightwave, not too impossible to recreate in an engine I suppose, provided you have some decent shaders ^^
Turbosmooth: hehe, thanks :P Quick and sloppy, though ^^
Devin Busha: thnx!
Frump: Well, if you look in the background you can see the hangar doors :]
[HP]: Yeah, its the point, hinting at some kind of functionality, a clean shell but detailed machinery. The concept was not made by me, so..yeah, but seeing inside the cockpit would have been really fucking cool
Vig: Totally agree with you. I tried to toss some of that in there, but maybe its not strong enough. I was kind of unsure if I should discolour the outside, and not just the inside. That would kind of hint that the jets were not very well insulated, so.. yeah. In the end it went..mjeah. ^^

yea, I was searching there for something to say.
If I didn't and I just fapped, then we would turn into a clone of the other sites (that shall not be named...) just like that >poof<!
Hot stuff, Snefer. It's interesting to flip back and forth to see which details you chose to model and which you chose to get via texture. I really like how believably the distribution and rhythm of tech details is coming across. Looks more like a film prop than a game prop, if you know what I mean.
Nice nice, only crits are the environment could use some bevels to match the curvy nature of the pod, and a little more lighting where the glowy ring is on teh pod would show off a little more of its awesomeness. Shame we're losing the front side in the environment shot to darkness. Kudo's on the pod though, came out great as always
thanks for all the comments :]
crazyfingers: thanks. Yeah... I blame lazyness The env was such a quickie to pimp the prop ^^ Agree about the glowy ring, might revise that, I want the engine to show more, but i still want to keep the front a bit in the dark.

How about another bank of pods on the opposite wall?
Love the detail , especially the thrusters. I'd recommend having a play with UDK - am sure you could recreate this realtime and try some different arrangements of the pods and lighting.
dude it's amazing. Like: "Oh an old piece I nearly forgott about it." I mean its such a great piece how could you have it lying arround? You must have tons of things like those floating arround, haven't you? Anyway. Your work is over the top.
Thats awesome man, really nice work. Very minor crit is there looks like there is a little bit of pinching around the two circular indents on that barrel shape. Lovely none the less.
How do you come up with your ideas for random 'nick-nacks' to include? I always find that part most difficult. I always have space i need to fill, but never know what with.

Is this for a larger scene?
Is that top shot in engine? Looks great.
It's a really great asset you've got here ! Wonderfull details and shape !
I'm really curious about your cool light, it is ingame screen or precalc render ? (if it is which render engine did you use ? )
What good is an escape pod in a tunnel?
At first I thought it was like robotic arms in a manufacturing facility. Wicked none the less.:)

no real crits

Slave_zero: Uhm, yeah ^^ I have way too many pieces lying around, gotta start a "random crap thread" soon :P

Sweeeet though, going to texture?

Shut your mouth and just watch...
Hehehe, i laughed :P
As always mr Snefer, you're work is really inspirational.
