Pzychaoz: thanks :]
airage: hmm..nothing special, a directional light, some global illumnation and another pointlight to highlight the spec :] And added an AO-render with a brownish hue on top.
Haha its like a cute robot koala face :poly124: . Just kidding man, it looks great. The cylinder thing in the center near the top kinda bugs me though. For how dense the detail is it almost feels too flat compared to everything else around it. Maybe adding some darker tones between the different sections of metal could help add some depth to it. Just a though. I cant wait to see the next shot of the full scene.
doeseph: for the lowpoly or highpoly render? The lowpoly render is just a couple of pointlights and a spotlight but sure, i'll post a screengrab.
Sasochicken: Through the gates on the other side of the room
brandoom: thank you sir!
nrek: yeah, its kinda flat atm need to boost the texture alot, its not enough POP!
haha, yeah, I never grew up with warhammer or anything, and I think space marines look silly. But the more I look at it, the more i like it. Still alot of sillyness, but there is alot of cool stuff ^^
damn duuude- it just keep coming, That's a lot of edge loops to be dropping in that time frame :P. you have some freetime lately? or are you using some fancy shmancy modeling tools?
the modeling is great but I really think the materials could use some tweaking. The yellow paint on the sci fi piece really pops out to me and almost feels like its glowing, which of course paint does not do. So the specular value on that should fall. Also the specular across the entire piece looks to be generally the same. I think by adding in more contrast it would go a long way in selling the textures.
Matys: thanks man :]
konstruct: hehe, i'm keeping busy ^^ I have 5 freetime projects running at the same time right now, a couple at the office during lunch and after work, and a couple at home for the evening/night/weekends :P fancy shmancy modeling tools = modo and energy drinks ^^
EricV: I agree with you, it looks waay to washed out right now. Its not the fault of the spec though, its quite high contrast, its just the render that washes out everything atm, but I will make the texture pop a bit more, and re-render it with better ligthing :] Too much spec in the render right now.
Ahahah, nice stuff. For some reason this reminds me of the madmax gyrocopter
Only thought I have on it is the worry that if it stood stationary on the ground, the weight on the back would either sag or touch the ground, tilting the whole thing upwards and falling over.
You're such a bad ass snefer! How do you find the time for all this?
Really quick newb question from me: You must have a quick way of doing that 'tube wrapping' you have going on the seat and the tail pipes, what's your process? Spline guided?
I see people doing this a lot, and have never made the effort to figure it out.
EDIT: This was just covered in the sub-d thread a little bit, but I'd still like to hear your approach.

edit: and oh yeah, its a bit different on the two sides, so its not mirrored, i'll render from the other side next time if im not lazy :P
Edit: wait, you didn't like warhammer? {trying} to like it now? Yikes!
Does not compute.
Anyway, Awesome work man, absolutely awesome!
