So here is my first WIP. Im doing a bit of addition to Nunu and his Yeti. Im looking to push the silhouette and make this really fun Feel free for any comments or suggestions, thanks!
ambitious_nomad: Thanks man, yeah low poly will be fun
Turista: Thanks!
Oniram: Appreciate it!
So here is my WIP2... I made the battle chair a bit smaller and added new armor to him. I wanted him to be able to move his shoulders! Still a lot of refinement with the yetis fur. Next update will include that and a detailed battle chair. C&Cs always welcome
Looks awesome so far! My only suggestion after studying the concept art is that perhaps you could try making the feet/legs even smaller to push the cartoony look even more.
There is another hero that riot did that on recently. I think his name is Mundo. The purple dude in this picture --
slosh: Thanks Buddy! I really appreciate it. Ya I hear what your saying and I really couldnt make his feet that much smaller. I think this works well now, what do you think?
erroldynamic: Thanks a ton!
So here is my latest progress... I think Im about done with my Yeti hiRes. I will be moving on to Nunu next. As always C&Cs welcome!
I'm jumping on the band wagon, but this is legitimately awesome haha
I"ve tried sculpting fur multiple times; i'm alright at it, but seeing your fur now is mindblowing. Can't wait to see the final product!
Hey All, its been a bit since my last post, been caught up at work. I have to say though, wow, Im truly humbled by all of your nice comments Really pumped you guys are liking him! As far as the questions about the fur, really its nothing tricky. Just sculpting out basic volumes and refining from there. At times I will mask out a fur tuft and use the move brush to pull that fur tuft out and over, to kinda give that layerd effect. But ya from there I will just refine and sculpt along the direction I was that particular tuft to flow in, taking my time as I do so.
That being said here is my progress with Nunu. Im also posting Nunu in size reference to Willump. Oh also Im posting my reference for all this. I forgot to do that earlier. From here my next steps will be starting the low poly and getting these guys unwrapped. C&Cs always welcome!!
Hey Everyone, thanks for the feedback, so glad you guys are liking this power team so far! At the moment Im making my low polys, but I wanted to post a place holder with Nunu in his battle chair. C&Cs welcome as always!
I'm just an ignorant peasant that has no idea how this stuff is made and i've been looking at a lot of entries, all good to look at, but yours is just...
My poor english vocabulary just simply cannot express how good it looks, but it was good enough for me to create an account just post this.
it's by far the best entrie i've seen in this forum, BY FAR, like the distance of the sun and earth! far!
it's truly amazing because you took something that looks right now really bad (looks like a yeti whos drunk and addicted to alchool, have you seen that belly?!)and just made it look fitting and menacing as it should! i can almost see it running around the rift using those giant hands to help him run even faster! sorta like gorilas!
i really liked your take on the yeti looking like an ancient beast

Hey, the sculpt looks great and I love it. Can I ask you for some advice? The way I've been taught to model is to make a bash mesh and then sculpt from the base mesh. It seems you're doing it the opposite way by creating the low poly from your high poly? Is there any tutorials you can recommend for this method or some quick insight?
Jeebs:Really appreciate it!
Maxko:Thanks Man!
jmTurbo:Thank you!
Vin Iho:Thanks Bro
slosh: Your Annie is looking so sick, thanks man!
DrugMan: Dude, what can I say Im truly humbled by your kind words. There are so many truly amazing artist and entries in this contest I feel Im just lucky to be thought of along with them. I really appreciate your support!
TeaLeaf: I guess it depends on what you like to do. I actually do both workflows, but I guess for me these days the more sculptural/ organic type characters I really like to just go at it a sculpt with dynamesh then retop that. Really no right answer or workflow, whatever your comfortable with and gets you the best results!
DmitryGrebenkov:Thanks Bro! Your Caitlyn came out amazing!
So topology is all done along with my bakes.... times running thin here so I have been jamming on my crankin out my textures. Below is my first pass at Willump and Nunu's battle chair. Working on Nunu now, soon as Im done I will post my wireframes and poly counts. I still want to optimize these guys a bit, Im hoping to get all them down to 15,000 tris total. As always C&Cs welcome!!
Nice!! Be sure to check out some fur reference from other LoL skins. Its very soft actually. I know this is still WIP but it seems like the bakes might be the top layers in you psd. Id soften those up then get in there and paint ontop of it all.
First pass looks good! I think you can reduce the contrast in the fur a bit and make it softer. Also, I'm sure you're gonna get to this but it would be nice to see more color variation and gradients to balance the cool with warmth. Looking forward to more!
andyvargas: thanks buddy!
Neer: your right! I actually applied a sharped filter to get the texture all crispy. Below is more creamy and without the filter. thanks for the tip
Slosh: totally man, I reduced the fur contrast a bit. Also I will def be adding more warmth with Nunu's colors, I can even add more warmth to the wood... As for Willump I want him to stay frosty
Here is my textures softened up. More to come soon!

I always thought the current Nunu skins were a bit lame. But this one is bad ass.
