Hello everyone. I'm an environment artist at Vigil Games. We just wanted to share a few samples of our environment work on Darksiders 2. We are all very proud of our work and the game and we hope you enjoy looking at it as much as we enjoyed making it.
Absolutely inspiring. Have to agree with HP, seeing the finished products side by side would be amazing. I'd love to see those repeating textures in action. Awesome stuff! Love the game!
Thanks everyone for your comments! So glad you're enjoying it.
@ timotronprime - Yes to both of those. It really depends on each asset.
@ [HP] and Shanthosa - I'm sure we can. I'll try to get some of that together.
@ Darkleopard - All of the work you see here was done in ZBrush. We don't all necessarily have the same methods for getting from A to Z. I think what we focus on most is making sure everyone's art adhere's to our style.
Great work! Thanks for sharing
I love that stlye

Can you say a little bit more about
your favorite matcap or brushes u use ?
The matcap is a combo of 3 composited in Photoshop. Brushes vary depending on the artist, but I almost exclusively use HPolish, TrimDynamic, and Dam_Standard. I think it's pretty similar to the other guys.
Hi guys. Here is what my brush shelf looks like. I seldom need to go to the brush palette for anything else but if I do its usually the clip brushes or insert brushes. I also frequently use dynamesh, zspheres, zsketch, shadow box, projection master and other things when I feel the situation calls for it. I will try to get some of my bake down wips together later today or this weekend. Thanks everyone!
Fantastic work guys. Been playing through the game, right at the end. It has been such a pleasure looking at all the phenomenal art work in this game. I am such a HUGE fan of it!

Would be great to see the finished / baked pieces for comparison as well, if you could share those!
Congratulations on shipping the game man.

It would be cool if you can select a couple of pieces and show the concept art, the sculpt and the final asset if possible.
Thanks for sharing!
Loved the game BTW.

And indeed, some comparison shots would be even more awesome.

The diff was 512 and the norm was 1024, but there is a lot of custom shader stuff to make it look better in game
