I agree with Tobbo, make what you want, just be sure that it turns out well. On a side note; that vehicle instantly made me think of this one done by Helder Pinto: http://eat3d.com/forum/contests-and-challenges/high-poly-vehicle-helder-pinto-final
I like keeping it more open ended rather than limiting. Doing a prop or vehicle portion on the next challenge would be great. Some Artists don't always have time for full enviros. So doing a really detailed prop or vehicle might be a bit easier.
Hello, i'm a 3d artist who regularly uses 3ds max to model things such as vehicles, props and Weapons. I never bothered to make a account on here, so im doing it now. My name is Ryan and im one of the vehicle modelers working on Project Contingency.
@JadeEyePanda - I haven't been given a limit but I'm just trying to limit myself to 25k max. @ZombieDawgs - Most of the polys are in the rims but the entire body hits around 8K The vehicle hasn't been completely modeled yet, there's a few more things to add in such as the interior of the vehicle.
I just play while ignoring the shadow issues . (yes, it has finally arrived today) What kinda annoys me is that there's no way for most infantry types to take down a vehicle, especially considering the number of vehicles in play. Or is there some secret I don't know about?

I am certainly no expert on aerodynamics, but I would think the cut out area next to the hatch (looks like a step to get in the vehicle?) would cause some drag on the vehicle. Design wise, I think it would look that much more slick to remove that area entirely.
Yo neal, mind showin that off? I've done the 'mapping to planes' bit for all my vehicle models but would like to see alternative methods. Hawk, vehicle's lookin slick so far. A a few more edges to round it out and it could drop right into UT2k4 no problem.
Progress Update #1 With this new project, I am trying to go for a "Retro Futurism" feel that will hopefully be apparent through the architecture and the vehicle. This will run along 12 weeks until the end of August and every 2 weeks I will be posting updates. The updates will include the progress of the surrounding city,…
