I haven't been job hunting recently, but because of Covid-19, I'm guessing a number of studios have temporarily scaled back on hiring artists. So that search may not reflect the number of jobs you would typically see. -

What I usually do is plan ahead then use the array tool as Prophecies suggested. If it's a cylinder I'll make it with the needed number of sides, delete all but one then use the array tool to create the same number of instances, rotated accordingly. -

Upping the lightmap resolution won't do much for artifacts if you don't increase the number of bounces (2 minimum) and the number of rays (minimum 500). For lights, consider the strength and position of the lights to be realistic - just put them where they should be. -

Thanks for the reply Ivars, im using maya 8.0, I can transfer the vertex positions but not the vertex normals, have you had this work before? wouldnt the vertex numbers on the sphere kind of have to match the vertex numbers on the tree? -

Haha thanks. Is there any one color scheme you like in particular, I'm having trouble picking just one I like to go with. Including it again here since it's a new page. Added numbers so it was easier for people to number them. -

The numbers seem right on for the LA area. Like Rawkstar said, most people I know working in LA with 3-5 years of experience are on par with the survey results. I'm curious to see the numbers by region if you get a chance to scan that in Aftermath. -
