josh.0 your arch is looking good, although the concept art has some perspective problems that might have affected the proportions of the bridge. bridge arches usually have a wider span between pillars, your arch is looking more like a doorway, than a bridge. Bit of a bump. While deciding what to do for the storefront of my building (don't want to model a KFC, I'll have to invent a design) I tmoved onto creating another model. I'm making an A Class tram. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_class_Melbourne_tram I decided to model this type of tram instead of the newer trams melbourne…
Hey guys! Decided to clear my upcoming weekends to attend this exciting new challenge. It'll be my first one for Polycount, so I'm curious how my project will fare compared to the rest! Already seen some top notch concepts and ideas from the rest, keep up the good work y'all! Anyway, I'm a 3D visual artist, currently…
Yeah I switched it to default lit and it seems to be doing a bit better. The trim could help a lot, I'll have to work with it a bit. I tried making the picture larger and it just looked a bit odd to me.
Yess! My man! I’m an environment artist with a background in organics. There are not many problems left that I would not myself try to script around, but the biggest choke point for me has been retopologizing and adding UV seams to lowpoly organic models. I'll use these rocks as an example: When I do a highpoly to lowpoly…
Update: Did a bit more work on the base layer of the metal trim, tried adding some subtle brown/light blue into the texture. Looking for feedback and suggestions, I'm thinking about starting on the scratches and other decal soon
Quick update: More geo on the bulb, added some trim at the bottom. Sittin on ~1,100 tris now. Still need to do a paint pass on the pole, then I'm gonna do another pass on all the textures to really nail it.
It will cost some tris, but as I said they're cheaper than textures. Here's a bit more info on modularity: http://wiki.polycount.com/CategoryEnvironmentModularity?highlight=%28%5CbCategoryEnvironment%5Cb%29 How to use trimming: from http://www.hourences.com/tutorials-texturing/
Yea, it's just like having short hair opposed to long hair, feels more comfortable. Not to mention it looks cleaner and makes your junk look bigger. Though all of that is for trimming. Shaving is not so good. :| Never tried, never would.
I have modeled my details in Max, and set all of my details over the plane to which I want to bake the details on. I think that the normal details are coming out barely okay, still needs a bunch of work, but specifically I don't understand how to get a proper heightmap bake. I don't quite get where to place the baked plane…
