monkeyboy_garth: your friend/ the IT department obviously had no idea what they were doing. Macs on an AD based or even novell based network environment are quite easy to integrate. You would typically just segment them off from the rest of the network directory, and moniter/enforce policy seperatly. Remember kids Network…
I'm excited about the Wii, but considering the hardware that's inside . . . it does seem a bit overpriced. Reggie said today that they're actually making a profit on the hardware (which they're probably also doing on their handhelds). I don't disagree with them making money on principle, I just think the 360 is probably a…
A few funny things I'm noticing... Everyone I've come across rushes off to buy the supercars without gaining any driving skill. I've racked up 400+ miles of driving, and been doing it mostly with my Caterham and Corvette. Some dude chased me down in his own Caterham to race me, and I schooled him something fierce. The…
The difference between myself and Gnomon is that I don't charge eighty dollars for my tutorials, no anything actuall. I am not willing to spend more than about 300-400 dollars on this, so even another computer is a no go, because I don't currently have a second one. I was unaware of the VGA capture cards Eric, I'll check…
It's strange but in the Preferences make sure the texture limit is set to something max like 4096 by 4096. Then also it might not hurt the viewport textures option to just under high quality. Now on your shader, don't set the hardware texture to 256x256, set it to default and it should use the big texture for your…
Far cheaper to upgrade your current desktop. I only spend a max of 400 a year to upgrade my PC and I never feel like I'm being left out of the tech gap. Then with a laptop, you can't really upgrade anything and once it's past it's prime... you might as well buy another one. And the video cards are never as good as they…
yeah you dont want to use a resolution like that, the video card will size it down to 1024x512. you need to use textures in powers of 2, ie: 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096......
Pretty cool design and a nice idea. The execution could be better, I think, though. You're using a 1024 and a 512 map? From that render it really doesn't look like it. I reckon you could halve the size of those maps, polish them up a bit, and they'd look more detailed. Any chance of a wireframe? I'm kinda wondering where…
Found a cool overclocker for Centrino too... http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=177&pgno=1 I got the 845 version to work with mine. It forces a clock up of the AGP & PCI buses along with the FSB but I was able to squeeze 1817Mhz out a 1600Mhz chip running the torture test for 12 hours solid at <60C, 1.004V.…
