For the lightmap uvs I just left at least 3-4 grid points around the border and 2-3 between the shells, i didnt even focus on maximizing the lightmap uv space, just that the edges were on grid points and there was a bit of padding around everything. when its all said and done, the uvs probably are around 70% of the space…
This is my first tutorial I will make so please bear with me :). Step 1: So first and foremost, we need to be in the right state of mind to approach this issue. In my opinion, what ever you want to do in life you must be in the right state of mind in order to achieve what you want to achieve. make yourself calm and relaxed…
Hey! First of all, even experienced animators use tons of references. That's a thing you're going to do and that's never going to go away! If you analyze what drives the movement in your references, your understanding of body mechanics will improve and it's probably going to feel more like you're doing your own work and…
When I was four years old, my mother gave me her Nintendo entertainment system. That is how my quest first began, through the years of playing Super Mario and other various side-scrolling platformers I had grown such a love for video games. Through the years not a time has gone by where I did not have some sort of game…
Hey! this is a super lovely character! I did notice a few weak points in the anatomy, and missing shapes/muscles-- hope a quick draw-over was ok. All refs shown (though not all used) pulled from Anatomy4Sculptors-- highly recommended for good artist-brain-oriented breakdowns and tips. Was better when their free site had a…
Here's something I came across not too long ago on artstation: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/XBnL3l It's a technique devised for a VR game that had geometry limitations so they accomplished that destroyed look using textures. Personally I would do this. - Create a basic destroyed building. This wouldn't have tons of…
Isn't uploading images from your desktop directly to your comment with the 'attach image' button still the easiest? Maybe I'm old school. Anyway your model seems pretty good, though a bit too low-poly for a hero prop (unless it's for a mobile game). The textures, lighting, and presentation are bringing it down…
I had never heard the term of ''Spec work'' before. So that's how they call it wow.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsstOs-K7gk After seeing this I understand better. Here's my take on this; if you're working in a field where alot of people which are not professional can ''imitate'' or simulate ''professionnal'' work,…
Okay, well. First and foremost; your portfolio is quite unintelligible! Do you have an Artstation? If not, get one, if so, link it. In the meantime I'll crit your layout and what I can see; * I'm not going to watch any videos until I know it's worth my time, for a position where it's likely that your work is static.…
Just woke up. Bluntness incoming. - Your character isn't even baked and LP. Don't show it (though you shouldn't anyway because environment artist). - "Concepts" is spelled incorrectly on your environment concept piece-- and that's clearly basic photo-bashing. I wouldn't show that. - 2D art doesn't need to be there, it just…
