how much performance increase from modular environments?
Im wondering how big of an increase there is from modular environments and where it actually increases performance. In my mind, logically, I feel it would only really help load times since the computer will load less unique geometry. But does it help framerates as well? To me it seems once its loaded it wouldnt really… -

Yeah, I've set each piece up pretty modularly, I figured I'd end up sculpting each tower and the main building individually. I just crammed 'em all together to easily edit all their UVS onto one big ol' sheet. Thanks for the advice! I'll just go back and do a high poly bake mesh for the basic normal map, then take that… -

So, i worked on the proportions and the pose ever so slightly yesterday and today .. the hip area is currently my nemesis it still looks quite bad.. im sure the proportions in general are still slightly off? hopefully they are a bit better by now.. also i havent put the spit shine on this yet.. still just using clay tubes… -

Your images are very compressed, especially the texture flats look like crap. Maybe a different host can fix that. As for things on deck, you'll need a lot of stuff to tie the ropes to, but other than that there's generally not a lot of things there. Maybe some sacks and chests. Unfortunately parallax occlusion mapping in UE4 doesn't work with decal volumes and mesh decals neither. At least I was not able to get it working.
