Sure thing! Make sure to get those rocks mashed into your terrain sooner, rather than later. Quick paintover... Blockout is super important for figuring out what kind of rocks you actually need, and which you don't, plus any different kinds of rock assets you wish you had!
What you say sounds really promising, but what worries me is that those transforms are pretty much "free hand" unless you hit the key for the axis every time, and beside that X-Z Y are pretty much far apart in the keyboard... Seems like something that would work better for the blockout of some organic shape, and not hard…
I posted an advert for a job I needed done http://polycount.com/discussion/162512/closed-game-ready-character-model-from-a-concept And after I had gone through a lot of applications from freelancers on this site, I had chosen to go with http://polycount.com/profile/digitalfreaky and after talking further with emails and on…
Small update - worked on clutter and adding window trim and skirting. Still got some placement to fix, and I'm still using scaled desks as blockout meshes for the locker room and a radiator, etc Edit: annoyingly, looks like the dirt mask for the bloom doesn't show up in highres shots -__- anyone know how to fix this?
Hello guys, my name is Mihail Lupu. I want to share the latest project i worked for: Modern Combat 5 Blackout - Gameloft. My role on this project was Senior 3D Environment Artist and i was responsable for levels creation: modeling, texturing, lighting, and level design. Below you can find a few in game screenshots. This…
Yes that is the best approach I'd say. Blockout is very important and you shouldn't feel limited too much by a kit. Once you've nailed the blockout and the proportions, you can then still proceed with thinking about how to make a kit for this (if you even need one).
Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback, really appreciate you taking the time. @fredriklars That’s fair criticism on the blockout. I did move a bit fast through this phase because I was eager to start exploring the main structure, but I agree that pushing the composition and framing more now will save me trouble later. I…
Is this the lowpoly? Bockout? Start of highpoly? It seems like a blockout to me, because its way too messy to be a lowpoly mesh, and it will need to be a lot more accurate to be a decent highpoly mesh. Theres nothing wrong with having a blockout mesh, infact its a great way to start, i just want to make sure you're not…
Hello everyone. :) I have started a new environment project. The setting is a research outpost, with visual inspiration drawn from Mass Effect: Andromeda and Fallout 4. Combining sci-fi structures with signs of decay and long-term exposure. Goals for this project: * Create a wide range of modular assets and props to…
Hello to my fellow polycounters! I’ve been working on a character in the evenings after my day-job, in hopes of pushing my portfolio forwards. In the past I’ve either had a fairly generalist portfolio, or the chosen designs were not visually strong. I’ve reflected a lot lately, and decided to push forwards with a stylized…
