@Elithenia I agree with you on the price aspect. I bought Jacob Norris' tutorial for like... 80 bucks or something and it was amazing. Tutorials on SimplyMaya were also around $50, and those were superb. That was a good price to pay for it. When courses which are $50-$100 are so great, its difficult to spend $800 for one.…
Great update man! I noticed that the shader sorta "picks" a light based on the last one you turned on or messed with in general. Which is ok, but would be easier if you could select specifically from a drop down which light you want to use. But one problem I ran into is that if you have a scene setup with multiple…
I get a lot out of interacting with online communities but the appeal of an internship for me is being fully immersed in a creative space with more experienced artists. Even with the often solid advice I get here and elsewhere, the whole process to becoming a hireable artist can feel shrouded in shadows at times. No one in…
I turn off the character controller (the only collider on the character other than the hair stuff, which isn't on the same layer as the character/animations) so I don't think it's pushing me anywhere, it's only ever used to collide with walls and gravity, the movement is handled in animation. I haven't double checked with…
the obvious benefit that has already been mentioned is memory. But it's worth repeating. Repeated geometry takes up far less memory. However there's other benefits: You can attach parameters to the individual transforms of the objects that help with defining the gameplay of the space. You can also have richer physics and…
Hello ! Nice idea your contest ! I'm really excited ! :D I have a question, I don't know if I've understand everything ^^ The animation short movie should be done only with game animations , like walk cycle animation, interactions animations , fight anim, etc.. (only motion presets, as we can see in every video games) and…
Hey man I like the progress so far :) You have some cool design ideas, going with an enchanted structure that was built out of whatever was available is a cool concept! The stones around are definitely a plus, but I agree that they will interfere with game play. Maybe going for details directly carved in the ground texture…
The idea for Deadskins sounds great. Taking an interesting spin on the Team Slayer gametype with an interesting theme and visual style. I'm KEEN to see where these go, and how the environments progress. Could definitely see some interesting prop and set pieces coming out of this. Grim fate, just from looking at that…
Hey, it's been... wow, exactly one month... Gave Taitor and Hatack some clothes, although I'm not sold on the latter's and I've been second-guessing the entire project altogether... although I did get started on this 'Elf Queen' (think of them as closer to... rabbit fauns than tolkien rip-offs) design before all that...…
That looks ace! Great work. The scratches and damage on the metal seems to just be a texture overlay so they don't have much history going on. You should have the scratches appear in eares where the metal parts grind against eachother, and when you have those random scratches that could be caused by things like dropping it…
