I think I simply misread your comment about wanting better 24bit support. I guess 8bpc would be the default, but it would also be helpful to have an option to output 16bpc TS, for massaging/editing in Photoshop. Test model here, max file is 2010. -

Very dependant on hardware, as well as placement (is it a centerpiece), and artstyle. In this case, you might want to model, but keep it really lowpoly. You might be able to save a good bunch of polies if you use a 1bit alpha for the center without having it cost too much performance. A pretty small texture (maybe a 128²)… -

it looks neat but if that thing on the bottom right is the texture then you are wasting a BUTTLOAD of space. things like the roof should be a 16x16 or 32x32 tileable texture, same with a lot of the things like the silos, and vert light the areas you want blacked out or something. same with the garage doors.
