Blender converts stl.You might have to enable it in user pref/addons import-export.

Also, a few more details: It is supposed to be exported as an FBX into UDK if that makes any difference.

Just a thought: try exporting to FBX in other software. Maybe it's a tangent related issue

ZBrush export is rather capricious. We are working on a plugin to link the 2 but no ETA yet.
