I'm seeing banding on my laptop monitor, which is an 6-bit e-IPS screen, I'm not at home to check it with my better monitors, but most cheap monitors are 6 bit and do not actually display anywhere near the colors your video is outputting, so subtle gradients will show banding or dithering effects.

Your texture could be a single side of the crate and you would arrange each UV shell to use 100% of the texture. In 3dsmax you click on each face, then click "quick planar map".
