Epic procedural My love for panel houses and for the brutalist style was reflected in my project. Collected procedural generation, through a node system, it turned out not the most simple node tree. It assembles houses from a set of small parts. With a large number of changeable parameters. finally mastered procedural…
Unity's faster than unreal, and less restrictive (without investing heavily in modifying unreal's source) might want to have a look there. Unreal is best if you're doing epic stuff stuff the epic way. Unity by contrast is pretty blank slate and with this year's new scriptable render loops, they've exposed a hell of a lot…
Hey everyone! This thread has been awesome and some great work has been done here! I posted a question to Epic's AnswerHub. Seems like they are working on an official solution for MeshDecals! Unfortunately it is not a priority currently, so if you are using UE4 and want this feature shoot over there and upvote the post so…

It seems like UDK is reading the exported normals from the FBX but Epic haven't changed the tangent basis to the one that xNormal uses...at least I can't see anything that would suggest that, so I'm not sure what has changed tbh. They added the "Explicit Normals" and "Import Tangents" ages ago, didn't they?…
I spent a few hours one day looking for an obj export plug-in. The sound my hand made when it hit my forehead was epic. Almost as epic as the sound my finger made when I hit send on the email to Autodesk letting them know that decision was full of fail and wasted time. I hope at some point very soon Mudbox has FBX support.

The showcase/shoutout is focused on the Bathhouse entry from the environment winner; Jordan Walker who is also a senior tech artist at Epic. The rest of the update is focused on the actual UDK, unfortunately. They…
