I had more separate objects each with different material for highpoly, and a single object with it's own material for lowpoly. The highpoly isn't even unwrapped because I only need it's normals but I don't think that's the problem. I tried to merge the highpoly parts, I tried to use the same material, I even tried it…
normalmaps always just resemble the highpoly, as close as possible, the closer the lowpoly is to the highpoly the better the result will be. Now if you split uvs and smoothinggroups you add new render vertices, the same happens when you chamfer your edges and use one smoothinggroup. however a chamfered box will need uv…
Okay i dont understand it... i cannot wrap my head around What i want to achiev is 1. have a highpoly (with multiple subtools and polypainting for SubstancePainter) 2 have a lowpoly based on highpoly (unwrapped in blender) 3. Substance Painter: load lowpoly -> "Bake Mesh Maps" with "High Definition Mesh" selected from "1."…
Check out Simon Fuchs' handgun tutorial. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/lVy0bV I bought this tutorial a while back, and haven't gone through all of it, but from these images you can see how chunky he makes his highpoly bevels. Admittedly, he does separate in zbrush using strategic polish uses, but you can get similar…

of Mini One First car HighPoly model Hi
3DModelers, Today I
write a new post about my work in progress of my car. I have been a little bit
busy for two weeks as another order of my 3D teachers for a Final Master
Videogame’s Project. Now I show you the simple process of HighPoly model to
bake it then. During…
Hey there! Was a bit busy last couple of weeks, so kinda don't want to show turtle speed progress, but I've took some time to finish the highpoly! Thank you all for support and interest in my thread, will try to finish it in time! @GravityBwlast @displacedinvader Thank you guys so much! Will do my best! @Benefix Thank you!…
I dont think you need to learn designer just so you understand the maps, but you could always read about them on the wiki to understand how they work better. thickness maps takes longer to bake for me as well. if your having trouble with it, you can use the lowpoly model instead of your highpoly for the thickness and…
I hope this helps. If you look closely at other talented 3d artists work, you will see that almost all highpoly models have clean wireframes so you get the best baking results among other advantages like easy post-editing of the model. It looks like you continue modeling on a smoothed highpoly model which is not the ideal…
I think it's down to personal preference really - although in my experience people tend to make the highpoly first, since it means you have a better idea of what you must do in the "final" lowpoly to get the best look. If you build the "final" lowpoly first then you should have a really good idea of how you want the final…
