I'd argue it would most likely start off as one or two artist with a seat in the alternative software, and it spreads from there. Get a budget nVidia card, a 360 will do fine, for a DX11 take a 460, and so far, the best for price/performance ratio is 560. ATi isn't partners with nVidia so they get alot of penalties as far as such areas are concerned.
I don't use filters all that much, but I would say you're probably better off buying screw on filters. Most M43rds lenses have rather small filter threads, like 39mm, 46mm, 52mm, etc, so even good quality filters tend to be relatively inexpensive.
