Hey Joe, It's me again - I'm curious what best practice is for reloading/updating high res or low res meshes is, and what the limitations or caveats might be? How much can the geo change, or vert count etc. And when I am painting a skew map - is that "transferrable" or saveable to an updated mesh, or possibly a different…
Answer is no. Maya is going to killed itself if anything. If you're aiming for a place at a specific studio, find out what they use and learn that software(s). General 3d knowledge is transferable, while software efficiency is not.
Trying my hand at winged animation, and it's f*cking hard... Dragon I'm gonna transfer what I have to a different rig with only two legs as I'm not a fan of quad dragons.
Upps sorry I did not think of that. I am sorry but is it for a game model. Perhaps I am missing something. Are you going to transfer this to a low poly model or is it just high poly?
Awesome idea on the gradient, but it would have been much easier to just apply the ramp as a projection from the front and use Batch Bake to get the texture output. no messing with uv's and transfer errors.
Yes I understand, the whole transfer-between-apps things is just unacceptable to me personally. Having a file on the device, and not being able to open it with another application just doesn't cut it for me.
musashidan Great, hopefully it's a simple bug. thomasp That's a good idea but noors doesn't seem to get the correct normals, it transfers fully smoothed normals (as if I had collapsed the source object). Thanks!
So, I do it =) Megarandom click and I copy bone weight from model_1 to model_2. Select source model, than select target model, press "Space" and type "Transfer Weights"
Looks like you might need pixel padding. Change your "Fill texture seams" value to something like 16 under the Maya Common Output section of the Transfer Maps window.
Quoting because I am curious as well. Software developers will always find it easier to transfer skills to another position, but as Baj Singh pointed out what other avenues are there for 3D artists?
