MathewS, I would pay attention to games like God of war 3, uncharted 2, and Dead Space 2. All of which practice this "trim" method. Vert counts can get high but only if you go crazy with too much strip detail. In my opinion the kind of scene in question is simple enough to accommodate this type of work flow.
It just sounds like traditional art fundamentals. Try to learn some concepting on the side of doing your art, sketching, drawing, etc. Study lighting from movies and games you like. Paint a scene/prop in 2-3 different lighting situations, experiment with lighting in your 3D app/game engine of choice. Just my 2 cents :)
Official second came out in 99 and was called Universal Soldier: the Return. And fucking Goldberg and Micheal Jai White were the villians. there were also straight to video sequels Universal Soldier 2 and 3 starring Matt Bataglia (i don't know who he is either) as Van Damme's character, though Gary Busey was in 2 and Burt…
If I remember correctly he packs the opacity mask and the emmissive together. Remember a DXT5 (which supports a grayscale alpha) is twice the size of a DXT 1. So 2 DXT1s is the same size as a DXT5 and you have 2 extra channels you can do something with. Since he has an opacity and emmissive channel it is worth it to store…
To increase normal maps' strength via a parameter, create a 3-vector parameter and then plug it into multiply node. Also plug the normal map into the multiply node. Then in the parameter (or edit the instance of the material) type numbers 2, 2, 0.5 (for example) into the RGB values. That should intensify it. LERP I think…
Jensen, I visit 3 sites everyday. Polycount, 3DTotal and ZBrush Central. And you are on the front page of all of them! Congrats on such a model! On the Mass Effect 2 issue. I think there are no direct similarities, but rather the shape and form are similar as well as robotic type features. Either way, your stuff is…
[ QUOTE ] dude seriously I can pay for 2 months of rent with what they make in an HOUR, what the fuck is the problem? [/ QUOTE ] to be fair, I wonder how often these voice over folks get work? I mean, if they were constantly working, sure they make shitloads. But what if that one payment actually did have to pay 2 months…
I would not use decimation for that, how many polygons has the blade? I usualy bake at 1 million or 2 million polys. Plus it looks that your blade has a 180º Smoothing, Split the blade were the Sharp edge is, to split the blade in 2 halfs. and then add smoothings of 45 or 60º it will look more white, instead of looking all…

Very cute Gir! My girlfriend has a 2 1/2 year old here that is loads of fun...most of the time :poly124:. @ Johny - From my experience, I see them at places like petco (big chain pet store) going for $150-$175 most of the time. From a breeder I would assume it would be a lot more.
