Not sure about papers, Analdin. It's just something I was told. Basically, adding an alpha channel to your diffuse is the same cost as 2 textures. So one RGBA texture uses the same memory as 2 RGB textures. Or so I've been told... I used to try and pack my spec into the alpha channel of the diffuse and was politely asked…
It's a nice material overall, but I'm not sure it's what I'd expect to see in a sword that's been in a dungeon for a few decades. I'd expect to see evidence of rust (or verdigris for bronze), patina, and pitting; skeletons aren't known for their meticulous metal care... The following examples show a steel sword that's a…
Hey Jessica, just out of curiosity why do you want to hand paint your normals? seems overly excessive! :D 2 hours compared to 2 minutes is a big difference in time. props to you for giving it a shot tho! I always get told off for painting my own AO! :p sry if this has already been asked!
You could add 2 plane meshes and give them a separated material, and set the second one to 2 sided, and opaque. On one side of the glass , you want it to be covered by the glass and to show the glass normals and roughness. And on the another side, you want to show the roughness and normals of the "mask". So having 3 planes…
Some of the nicest vehicles I have ever seen. Nice touch with the Sketchfab add. It seems that there's some slightly jagged geo on the second 2 vehicles' tyres. Only crits I can give.. Well done dude :) edit - nice portfolio, i see that those 2 were intended for mobile? If so. Ignore my crit :P All the best.
Leona is one of my mains, so this idea makes me super happy. Color wise I think the 4th option is the best(bottom right hand corner of the first set of four) Is my favorite, but 1 and 2 are also great. Then 2 on the second set of four is nice as well, but im still drawn more to the 4th option on the first set
looking really good, the only thing that stands out to me as odd is that sort of 'n' shape on the bottom side of the building(most obvious on the furthest right angle) it is hard to read in the concept but I would read it as 2 large stone bricks or maybe even 2 large crates. Also it would be cool if the windows were…
With static objects... 1: probably impossible unless you make some fairly big assumptions 2: see above With animation... 1.look for big changes in curves over short spaces of time(<1frame) 2. now it gets complicated.... What are you actually trying to get out at the end? Could you just reset transforms on the painted…
I mean let say you have a table and chair props and you unwrap them to fit into 2 texture sheets. so some of the UVs for the table are on the texture sheet no.1 and some on on.2 and vice versa with the chair. But if you said you're not using cage then that can't be the problem. Have you tried to reduced the Max Frontal/…
I tend to go by day and half day measurements and charge for revisions. Definitely agree that adding a base % for revisions is a good idea, but be sure to start charging extra on top of that once you get passed 2 sets of revisions. Client disorganization is a HUGE factor, expect to be paid 2 weeks after they told you they…
