This guy built his own Cintiq from a £30 12x12 wacom tablet and a £38 LCD screen from a broken laptop, both purchased off of eBay. I can't find a total cost but he said it's 5% the cost of a Cintiq which costs £2,999 from wacom's europe store so he spent around £149 by my calculations.
Day 157: So, instead of regaining sanity I have decided to go mental with rocks, and created whole set with different textures. All rocks are procedural with 5k triangles (could be less but for now it's ok). Note: Started organizing my assets. Next to do: Procedural Maltese house, and maybe one scene in Blender just for…
miauu's Objects Replacer version 1.7 is available. Changelog: + added "Keep Name" which allows you to transfer(keep) the name of the original object to the newly created objects. This means that when the "Keep Name" is toggled ON all new objects will have the same name as the object from which they originate. Video…
Nice explaination :) I´m using this technique often to create my lowpolys because it saves me a lot of trouble with nasty gradients. I did my set for the september 2014 polycount challenge just with custom normals. No highpolys were hurt during the creation of this set.…
Just going back to the graphic card debate, on the German website I'm using (alternate.de)the Radeon HD 7870 is going for €179 and the Radeon HD 7850 for €149. I don't know if the radeon are good/bad but the HD 7870 has a passmark of 4,059, so I'm thinking it's good value.... ans saves me 100 over the 660ti
Actually I'm using a 1/144 kit I have as a reference and I'm combining that with what I find online of the 1/100 model kit. That's probably why it might look off in some places. Marshal Banana, definitely just realized there's a difference between a Gundam and a Mobile Suit. I assumed they were all just Gundams.
You have the blue channel set to a constant value (127 or 128 ), so in the areas pointing zero red and zero green, it appears blue. The reason why is because you're dealing with a 3d vector that's flat in the depth plane, and because normals get expanded from 0..255 to -1..1. So the halfway point (127.5) is zero.
Good news for you: xNormal comes with a 174 page manual, and what you are looking for is on the page 60 of the PDF, located at something like C:\Program Files\Santiago Orgaz\xNormal\3.11.0\docs But really, it just comes down to checking the "generate ambient occlussion" checkbox under Normal Map tab - you probably don't…
voxels... i just discovered true love here. i did this: from a sphere! zbrush can't do this, mudbox can't do this! actually i sent my kindest regards in the form of 140$ to the guy who makes 3dcoat. now i'm gonna toy with this trial for the time being, and do something more than just toy with the tools.
Thanks for the response James. Glad we can have this discussion with more then 140 characters, heh. To play devils advocate, are you 100% sure that object space projection has the same cage issues as tangent space, or is this an assumption? It makes sense that it would, but just want to get all the facts on the table.
