New update ! I have worked on polishing the design of the space station. Since most of the
modules are done, I changed the global layout of the space station, and tried
to build the connections between the main modules. I tried to focus on making
a realistic structure. Something that is logical with all parts…
So I've been bad about updating this thread. :/ But I have been emailing people and getting good crits from my peers/teachers. Still no excuse for not taking advantage of this site more. Anyway, just wanted to update to show where I am at. I started working on the other character, "The Lost," and now I'm working on her…
I'll show you what I'm doing specifically: basically I placed all my modular pieces in editor before I did any uvs or lightmaps. Then when I had everything all set up nice, I went back, uved them for both textures and lightmaps and reimported. I used two separate 512 tileable textures on the following example piece: This…
I finally got a chance to try out 2010 and have to say I really like it. Just the fact that I have polygon cruncher is nice (which I bought years back, but I can't get to work on newer versions of max :( ) And it's nice that I don't have to worry about tracking down and installing polyboost either. I know its sort of a…
thanks everybody. MoP: you know that's one of my persistent issues so i'm not going to play it off as a "stylistic choice" thanks though, i tend to forget to work on it Slum: i never really played it, don't tell anyone steady: thanks...and yes, those old HL screens have fascinated me since their release hawken: the girl…
@ diminished self - I'm not sure what's causing the problem, I'm sorry you can't see it. Your absolutely right though, When I'm finished I'll make a video and take screen shots for just that problem. @ Jarrod1937 - I use firefox with the viewer all the time, I tested it myself. I'm sorry you had to use IE though, wouldn't…
Hi guys. Very quick intro: I've been doing 3d as a hobby in some form or another for twenty years. Nine years ago I wrote a screenplay for a short horror film. I tried to produce it six years ago but realised within a week that I didn't have the skills at the time. Two years ago I did a masters in games art and last May I…
Okay, so a little update, exporting as PSD gets rid of all the noise. Thing is that at the very least, I never noticed that either tga or png have this much noise in what are supposed to be blocks of solid color, not even gradients. Is it expected from such formats? I always assumed that at least tga is lossless.
Weekly update. I worked on the ground floor and cave, also added a bridge. Still some work both on texturing and modeling, especially on the silouhette. I will also finish and reworked the house textures. If you have an opinion or criticisms I would love to hear them.
So, for this pirate ship project, this is the last update I'm going to leave. I've received some advice that it's probably best to stop updating the project for now since each iteration I improve in skill which makes other previous iterations look lower quality making it an endless loop of upgrading haha. So, I'm going to…
