Did a quick item based of a concept by DoubleLeaf. I really like making items for different heroes, its always fun to learn how they were built and modeled and textured. So I present to you, the Scintillant Crown http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=205321155 Always down for collaboration and especially…
So I went back to the drawing board for a bit. The helmet plates on the back weren't making much sense. [IMG][/img] Instead I sculpted hair for the helmet and visor, along with an added crown. Here is the result: [IMG][/img] [IMG][/img] I've spent enough time on this sculpt. I'm moving forward to low poly and textures.
And do you really need to have each coin to have its own geometry? I would think that for the majority of shots you'd be able to get by with a simple repeating pattern (the same way you'd do any other repeating pattern in zbrush), a displacement map, and the occasional insert object for things like goblets and crowns to…
Won't they just look like asset flips? I'm not talking from experience or whatever here, but I feel like art directors or whatever they call that kind of thing from studio to studio or team to team, are probably very fitting into that phrase about "if you do it right, they won't notice you did anything". If you don't have…
Topology links, this is a bit of a gold mine https://uk.pinterest.com/remiwashere/game-art-topology/ The information on some of the posts is so useful, for example. I see how on paper the horns seem to have a similar look to Syndra's crown, but on Willump, I can't imagine anyone mixing up those silhouettes. Also, I'm sure in 3D, they'll be curved up and back, and not just upward. I'd say keep the Frostguard sigil on his back. It adds something to that large empty space on his back,…
@ PyrZern - Thanks! @ artstream - Working on the flatness now thanks for the crit! @ abrvpt - Thanks I am working on the tail feathers now. @ fordea - Glad you like the hair. I will be doing a render without the coif and crown to show of the hair. Also I agree on the falcon. I am scaling down the chest size and I think I…
I just meant that stylized 2D games tend to have a much, much higher variety of artstyles than stylized 3D games. There are many 2D games that evoke "wow, now that is a unique style"-reaction in me (like Loop Hero, Cuphead, Death Crown). I can hardly remember a 3D game that did the same. 3D artists tend to be fixated on…
Looks awesome! The cloth looks great is it all simulated simulated in marvelous? I was trying to make magazine pouches for my character in marvelous but i didn't have much control over the shape and folds so I gave up and modeled them. Anyways i don't see how this character could be of royal descent (as your title is…
These are some assets I did UV mapping and hand painted texturing for. These characters are part of the Lion Kingdom in an upcoming fan-made animated series called Ashes to Crowns.
