Hello, I was clicking around looking for information on what makes a good demo reel when I stumbled onto polycount. I found lots of helpful info! My goal is to get a level design job, my experience includes around 80 completely finished levels using Far Cry Instincts Predator & Far Cry 2 (Xbox 360) level editors, and about…
This was posted on gizmodo about the situation affecting vfx artists. I do feel there is some overlap with the games industry particularly outsourcing. https://gizmodo.com/disney-marvel-movies-vfx-industry-nightmare-1849385834 I think that the more 1st party a studio is, meaning it is the client and has production inhouse,…
I was exaggerating, of course, but something like this: Doesn't need to be actual anatomy, just needs to read like it could be. I took the screenshot as a starting point and smudged it a bit, without trying to replicate the reference model, which is much softer overall (edit: In this area and regarding the secondary…
Actually sitting for extended periods of time is bad for you (read: without breaks). When your muscles are at rest, your body circulates much less lipase, an enzyme that absorbs fat. It also changes your metabolic rate. From what I've read on the matter, the solution is to simply break up your sitting spells by getting up…
Mastering Unreal 1 and 2 books have no Uscript stuff. The 3rd one is on UDN with select chapters available. This is made for UT3 so there will be changes to get it in UDK. Personally I would suggest picking up a lanaguage book and reading that. Also check out the programming master thread for programming tuts.…

On this asset I don't think it curves on this plane Your's droops and curves, I think it's way more planar. I also don't think it sticks out from the side…

I've been playing around with medium poly modeling and face weighted normals, and I ran into a strange issue. So I have a model with edited normals that I exported from 3DS Max. I exported with all the combinations possible from Max with smoothing groups, split-per-vertex normals, and the tangents and binormals export…
Nice! I would reduce the amount of DOF, since it's a bit annoying not being able to read details in various areas. I think the point is to show off your work, not fancy camera shenanigans. Also would be nice to increase ambient lighting contribution, to fill in those black lifeless shadows. Would be great to see closeups…
