I've worked mostly at smaller studios, like less than 30 people, so usually artists wear many hats. I would imagine in larger studios that character artists would be the vehicle people, since the assets are similar at a basic level: dynamic objects, rigged to skeletons, with various attachments.
I think this is a really good start! I like the pistol model you made. I was curious about the geometry and modeling - I don't know if it would be more useful to have fewer samples, but show more of the underlying topology of the models you like best. Also, to agree with the comment above about specialization, I'm not sure…
Currently playing this on xbox 360, it's the first Fallout for me and I'm finding it very impressive, infact I'm hopelessly addicted:poly142: FPS roleplay enables ass kicking with more interesting developments compared to your standard shooter, I love this genre so hats off to the dev team!
Throwing my hat in the ring - My schedule is empty and I'm down to make some props! I've worked on a few indie titles in the past (Stanley Parable, Dr. Langeskov) and would love to help out on this one. All my contact info, resume and such are at https://hideous.artstation.com/ Thanks!
Ok taking earlier advice, I did another blockout of the scene to get an understanding of hat it'll look like and it did help since I now have an idea for how to walls will look like. I also made the heads for the walls Model ref:from the Zhufbar entrance
Nice on the soft particles. Whoever was playing though was trying far too hard to make everything more dramatic. Never actually aiming at the enemy, and getting hit a billion times himself didn't help much. Edit: And hats off to the composers, and whoever implemented all that wonderful gore.
I review websites here and there and for me what matters is "can I find what I'm looking for quickly". Layout doesn't have to be beautiful as long as it doesn't obscure where I can find stuff. Navigation has to be simple so I can find my way around quickly. Load times: it's ok if the reel/art takes a while but I hate…
Anyone should join :) I don't know if we ever hit 10 people at once but basically if you want to hang out and chat with people while you're working or even just to talk and watch other people work just join! I had a blast :D
I think the cockpit is too chunky - short and fat. it makes it look like a toy. Your forward visibility isn't going to be great either. Also, why the total change from your first posts? You had a pretty interesting shape and now you're copying the Saber?
Depends on what part of the 3D you do, could mean some hands on experience with equipment or trips to testing grounds to see some stuff blow up. I had fun on the trips to bases. Meet troops, eat lunch with them and have a good time.
