I had issues with Maya 2011 where everytime I created a Mesh, as soon as I modified a vert or anything, the geo turned into a garbled mess. I was trying to do an art test too, so I said fuck it and used Max instead. No probs. after that :D
Could be a few things. You're boolean option is set to Intersection, instead of Subtract. You may need to reset x-forms on both objects before creating the boolean object. In either case you're probably better off just using a symmetry modifier to create the second half.
not bad for a first model. got your edge loops in the right places. May want to think about remodeling the headdress and or just modifying it to mach the reff closer. Also the character looks very boxy try pushing the silhouette of the character more. Overall great job keep posting.
Hi anthandy , welcome to the forum :) ! I would maybe make his feet a bit bigger and his lower arm a bit thicker (the foreshortened one). Nice work! Here is something I was working on. I started with a 3d base for the spaceship concept. Simple shapes with a greeble modifier on it:
There's a recurring bug in Max where the Keyboard Shortcut Override Toggle appears to be off but is actually on, you might try turning this on then off. The reason for this toggle is it lets you define shortcuts that are local to a specific modifier/mode. Most people just set global hotkeys (toggle should be off)
Oooooh I'll have to try this method out. I'm with HP, A lot of times if I work from high to low, I'll just remove the turbosmooth modifier and spent a couple minutes removing retainer edges and use that for my low. Having chamfered edges here is a pain in the pooper.
[ QUOTE ] : <sarcasm> oh yes i forgot to mention, my style of art invioles incorrect proportions and color usage along with no perspective and modified anatomy :] and THAT is why my picture looks the way it does :P </sarcasm> [/ QUOTE ] I think that styles becoming more and more popular!
And if by "natural" you mean totally synthetic, laden with modified additives and pesticides, then yeah. Might as well start eating cigarettes as a healthy snack... Even organic fruits and veggies will kill ya. "What you do mean spraying ripe cow manure directly on the fruit will spread disease?"
Well I should say they run a variant of the processor that the 360 will use (as the 360 PPC's are based on the G5 core, the same way the Gekko is in the Gamecube). They are heavily modified, but similar enough to gauge performance. (minus of course the presence of the 3rd core as the G5's only have 2 processors).
That's because you have a version of mudbox that doesn't like Quads (like one of the beta versions). You either need the final version, or you need to make sure your mesh is 100% quads. Easiest way is to just pop on a tesselate modifier with 0% tension, set to quads.
