Depnds on model. Unique unwrap of my Stormsword model (about 80k poly) took me about 20min-1h per module (there are 8 modules, how quickly i could unwrap it depended on how complex said module was). Bolts, screws, welds and other seams (with higher-poly models, about 80k+, it's usually better to just blow the 200 polys on them for that extra detail, if you can). For even a car, there's a lot. They can pay the new kid less but you will have far more experience. They may only make $12/hr but if it takes them 20hrs to do something you can do in 4hrs then it's not economically viable. Also that new person may need 5 hrs of help and meetings from a senior artist. Companies aren't head hunting fresh out of school… -
