I would look at King Cobra and other naga reference for the tail. I think the white part needs to be on the ground, and it has to twist and curl more laterally. That is the whole point of the specialized scales on the underside, it is their propulsion system :)
made a few changes, added flowers to the bushes, there's now a particle system for falling leaves, as well as a few simple butterfly models in the scene, I've also changed the lighting slightly as well as the lightmaps to improve the shadow quality.

Spent a couple days hammering out what i learned is called Horizontal Volute Spring System on the later models of shermans. Im happy with the level of detail i havnt quite been able to achieve before :)
Take a look at Forza's material talk at GDC for a bit more advanced look at car paint shaders. Theres some code there if I remember correctly from attending the talk. Was a good talk about their material system.
That's an interesting point. It does help and I will keep it in mind in my future tests. I wish they had a more obvious system in place but I am sure I will figure something out that suits me eventually.
i just build things to match scale from the start, and setup a good grid system to work with in maya, than if n want to sculpt i goz from maya to zbrush with my prefectly scaled mesh
yeah I'm still looking for this too,,, model always facing the camera, for true in your face billboards... A rabbits system works for me as is , just a billboard that rotates left and right if u pan the cam left and right.

Yep and people have been crying for it for years, almost decades... and still they push through crappy bloatware features like flash style point based animation system and 3D painting that blows ass and doesn't work.
