yea vancouver is pretty expensive and in montreal you get raped by the taxes. if you make over 40k you are at 20% flat rate for quebec tax and then you have federal doing another 20-25% or so. and tax on most things here is higher. rent is supposed to be a bit cheaper but it depends how picky you are. then again I love… -

Using "faces" or "polys" is too ambiguous. If someone is giving you a budget, you should either ask for clarification or assume "faces" means triangles. A quad is 1 face but 2 triangles. A 20-sided ngon is 1 face but 20 triangles. You can see how this could potentially add up if you are not keeping track of your polygon… -

Use a skylight @~20%, two or three spot lights one of them @90% with shadows (this is your main light source), others @20-40% no shadows. Turn on light tracer for GI.
