mLichy - i;ve found that mubox's paint layers function is fine for blockig out colors, but when oyu go into opacity's and blending - the texture goes all weird and rainbowy i.e. where normally blue meets yellow should equal green, it goes multicolor like someone's 'ps sharpened' it too much... meh maybe i need my eyes fixed
I'm afraid it won't be possible. At least not in a simple form: octane does not support textures for the ior, so it's not possible to get both metal and dielectric on the same material. But right now a more complicated setup is possible: - a mix between a dielectric material (ior 1.4) and a specular material in function of…
Kanga - Just to chime in, in the future, you can use the smoothing or polishing functions in the Deformation (Tool) tab. This is especially helpful when projecting between two iterations of an undetailed model. You can also invert-mask the problem area in cases where the surrounding geometry is complex and/or you wouldn't…
That makes sense, thank you to everybody for the clarifications. I think I'm going to attempt using substance designer to bake the normal maps if that's more efficient, doing exploded bakes can be my back up if for whatever reason the Match Mesh name function doesn't workout (which would surprise me). Almost feels like…
I dont know if anyone else has this problem, or if someone knows a solution, but in mudbox if i zoom in close to the model the mirror function screws up. It is either in the wrong place, or gone entirely. im going to try to scale up the model and import it again, see if that works. EDIT: i just scaled it up in mudbox and…
If you dont have second monitor use xnviews always on top function. Zbrush 4 has spotlight which can do stuff like putting referance on your canvas. Less work space but with referance. Too be honest i never used spotlight. Only heard of it ;] Xnview should do the trick though.…
Lee, That all makes sense. I wish you the best of luck with this. My two cents on the sculpting package....ZBRUSH!!!!! That program is amazing. On top of the fact that I already think the program is superior and has tons of functions that mudbox does not, every update that pixologic puts out has some new mind-blowing…
It's definitely not a hack or anything close to it! It's normal Suite functionality - you can add or remove maps as you wish, otherwise you'd be stuck with the maps you chose when you created your project. The ability to add maps upon base creation is temporarily disabled for now because it needs to be refined a bit. It…
Yes, the UI bug is for 2013 -- 2012 worked fine. Window resizing and resize to fit children options are broken in 2013 when combined with certain UI features that involve dynamic resizing. This was confirmed by Autodesk but I don't believe it to be public knowledge. I haven't tested if they've fixed it for 2014 -- I wrote…
@Youshi Yeah it was the smooth edge/harden edge function. I will have a look at that. It is true, always better to actually know what you are doing and why things are happening. They are supposed to touch. I was wondering if this is acceptable to have them touch like that. But sounds like it is no big deal really? Thank…
