you'll often get this sort of thing on organic surfaces. there's a bunch of tools like relax you can use to fix the folding (relax etc.) they'll introduce distortion into the UVs but that's just a thing that happens and you need to balance it against desirable seam placement
hey, cool project. I dont quite understand what the benefit of control rig is exactly. I can understand that chopping a program out of the pipeline is usually good, but it looks like you do animations first by setting up a rather complicated rig in blueprint, and then you still basically keyframe the main poses, and have…
Asking for feedback is sensible - the downside is that occasionally I have some free time to give it ;) I don't see any glaring technical problems with your work. There are two main things you need to improve on from my perspective (its been 5 years since I was last hiring artists at a first party studio so might be a bit…
I think that one thing with metallic reflections is that often that dark reflection is not a shadow, but something dark being reflected on the metal's surface.
Could you please put the texture on the model, as fully bright, and zoom into the affected area? It’s impossible to evaluate the problem without seeing it in context. What does the model look like without any textures, just a gray color and regular lighting? I suspect the problem is your surfaces are uneven with a lot of…
i'd guess probably substance designer? that being said, say you have a sculpted highpoly naked body, bake a normalmap and convert that back to a heightmap it will surely not give you the same result as a heightmap baked from the highpoly.normalmaps have no information about distances to the original surface, they just have…
Still very early but started to build frame for this mecha I want to get the sculpt to very close to final level in zbrush and then do full retopo for clean surfaces, gonna see how it goes :)
@5rettski Observation and speculation can be informative but sometimes the best way to learn is to actually recreate the effect by starting from first principles. It may be helpful to break this problem down into it's constituent parts then work through solving each of them individually to build up an understanding of the…
I started this as a personal project to use it for my portfolio as a Junior 3D Artist. I would say that I'm at the halfway point of the modeling. I've refined the shape to make it make sense in real life and with the right proportions. I also decided to separate the geometry into multiple meshes keeping in mind that the…
WIP "Warrior" is a modeling practice aimed at enhancing my hard surface skills in creating tactical clothing and gear, as well as improving my texturing abilities. I thoroughly enjoyed modeling this realistic 3D character and learned a great deal throughout the process, particularly while using Substance 3D Painter.…
