I tried texturing in zbrush a few times but... eh.... Pixologic seem willfully stubborn about making their texturing properly useful compared to other packages. It misses some key features. Firstly you can't paint on a low poly model. Your only option is to subdivide it with smoothing turned off. Which is a faff. Secondly…
Your first concept could have stronger more intense light. I can barely tell you have any kind of lighting at all. It looks like all the forms have been copied and pasted. This is apparent by the edges. I would try and add more of a variety of different values. E.g. the grass is the same value everywhere there is grass.…
poopsi, i hope u dont mind a few pointers about ur skin, tell u the truth i dunno why such low res, ach :~ well essentially what u should pay some more attention to (especially in such low rez) are you forms, and your colors. since low-poly tex work is alot about faking geomatry which doesnt exist (e.g. folds) you want to…
Hi se7ered, I think you have an interesting concept but i would suggest working on the execution a little more. The large cylinders you have cut into both the high and low poly could easily be floating geometry. Cutting them in has done nothing other than to deform the main bulk of the mesh you cut into and give a little…
Not sure about Maya but in 3d MAx you have to check in "shapes/Lines" checkbox in obj import dialog . Then it imports as curves even edge based mesh from Blender. Perhaps Maya has something similar?
It does actually look like you are improving. Maybe you are just improving a bit slowly. Your FFXV guy seems to have better anatomy than your older stuff on art-station. At least as far as I can tell as an environment artist. Maybe you just need to break out of your comfort zone for a while. Instead of doing another…
Hey, Mr. Moose! Nice progress, its great to see that you're keeping up with this. Its hard to give really specific advice this early in the game. I can really only echo what others have said. Keep practicing and use reference. Always use reference. Always. This is how I tend to organize my thought process: Proportions…
Hey guys. I've been a bit busy as of late, not slouching. Anyways I hear what you guys are saying. I don't have much proper traditional anatomic training. And with my model I really didn't care much for any anatomy. (Sacrilege!?) I know I'm supposed to know all the rules in order to know when and how to break them. I…
